...Beats this one...

...Dmarla has done MUCH better pics like this one...

... http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=24784

...But TD's beloved "highest rating system" says otherwise...

...No offense, but...

... http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=25107

...Is not kmkagle's best work. Yet, in addition to beating out her other pics, it stands in front of the following pics...

...Are we serious???

...No really...

...Are we???

...Rachel's response to our cries is always...

..."One problem with 'most ratings' is it presents a less fair comparison for pictures done on the 1st and 31st of the month."

...We point out TONS!!! of issues with the Highest Rating System...

Should we all wait till the 31st of the month to submit our pics in attempt to avoid a dreaded 4 vote. AKA kiss of death???

...Give EVERY pic 30 days to receive votes...

...30 days after it has been submited it is eligible for the top 5 for the month that it's 30th day fell on...

This was not my suggestion, but a perfect solution none the less.

...Highest Ratings... You are the weakest link...

...GOOD BYE...

No need to shout - we heard you the first time (and second, third, fourth... )

In an earlier response we also said:

5. We will test the 'weighted average' formula suggested by anotherronism before releasing the next Top 5.

This should avoid a lot of the issues that have been brought up here.

We have also started to learn patterns of problematic voting to block them from spoiling picture ratings.

Thanks again for the high level involvement, and sorry for any upset caused by this issue. How about just ignoring the 'Highest Rated' category for now?

...If you use it, I will continue to be a voice of opposition...

Thanks Matthew so much. This is the first I hear of how this might be addressed. I have been struggling with do I stay or do I go but had no info to go on. This has gone on too long without letting us know anything. I even had one person put an abusive comment under one of my pictures. It seems that I have been seen as the problem because I do not support abuse. It was worded so few would pick up on it. I did not come here to be abused and then abused for trying to stop it. I am so sick over this that I just slept in 14 hours. I came here because art is very healing but this has been anything but.

I've stayed because I've been concerned about all this abuse, not just for me but everyone else. This hurt will continue as long as this person or persons are allowed to stay.

And I have to ask, why did I have to reply to my own picture 8 times just to post a thank you to a poster. There is no reason to block me!

Sorry, about that last post about an abusive comment under one of my pictures. Someone corrected me on the meaning of the post, I just misunderstood, the comment was innocent. The person said, no comment, and I misunderstood what they were getting at.

DMarla, I hope everything with the ratings and the comments gets worked out so everyone gets fair representation. I really hope you continue to draw on this site, I love your art work. It would be a real loss to all of us who come to this site for fun and uplifting moments if you were to be driven away.

Thanks Dragon. The sad thing is I got really sick and lost a lot of weight just before coming here and it has started to drop again. I hope so too.

BAD IDEA

15. 25 Feb 2009 08:57

Luna

OVB, that was unclear. What is a bad idea?

Just a thought~In Top 5 why not limit it to one win per person per month in all categories combined. If someone gets top 5 I always go check out all their other pics. Then there would be broader representation of artists and more chance of getting there!.

17. 25 Feb 2009 09:49

matthew

...If Lynnspotter had the number one pic in all 5 caegories...

...Which one of the 5 should make it in???...

...Why would we want the best pic in the other 4 catergories to be eliminated???...

...Should we change the name to top 5-ISH... or top 5 not counting the best couple???...

...I love that you want to share the love, but even in a perfect world... We would still eat the forbiden fruit...

I think the five best pictures in each catagory should win, no matter who did them. Would museums have just one Rembrant, and one daVinci, and store the rest in the basement?
