...Anyone else notice that our individual "average ratings" listed on our profile is GONE...

... Is this the foreshadow to the ratings being gone???

It could also mean that everyone is going to start with a clean slate in some form or another.

to those who are the really really great artists and saying that you are the ones who are most affected by the one votes... yes, you may receive the most attention in that case, but you also have the most attention in the positive form too...you get the most comments and votes..even for the pictures which are not your BEST ones ever (although they are all wonderful)...and when you think about it...isn;t it the most famous artists (in the real world) who receive the most critisism....I'm sure Da Vinci, Picasso, Dali and Van Gogh didn;t get off that easy...if i may say so myself, i haven't been affected by the one voters because im not as well known as some you of the rest of you... but...i think you should just all stop worrying about the people who are jelous enough of your wonderful artwork to vote you down, and focus on the more positive aspect of the site... you guys all make brilliant drawings, and you should know that every single person here appreciates your effort and time... EVEN the one voters...

and surely you must KNOW that the only reason some of the best pictures get voted down is purely out of jelousy....learn to take it as an unspoken complement....

... I had people get mad at me for having too many pics in the top 5 in January...

... With all the frustrations, I limit the number of times I sit to draw anything of substance...

... But I used to get into top 5... Because of the large amount of pics I drew... In January, I had pics that slipped by the one voters attentions...

... Last month I managed to slip a pic into the top 5 by waiting till the last day of the month to submit it... By the time it received it's 1 vote it was too late to get blasted into anonimity...

... Each time I get voted down, I get less enthusiastic about drawing the next pic...

... With less & less & less pics drawn, the 1 voter is winning...

... I am not the only one who draws less...
... Likemee, Palmasbob, Lizmeister, HDwild, Ron, Luna to name a few...
... Some have stopped altogether...

... Do you not miss seeing Palmasbob's amazing work? I do...

... It used to be, I could log on at anytime & see tons of great new pics...

... Now, only a couple...

... When the One Voter is empowered...

...WE ALL LOSE...

... My pics always get voted down between 3am & 8am Think draw time... \

... When will I learn to stop submitting pics right before this time??? They never live through the night...

... Perhaps I should just do one pic a month after 8am on the last day...

... I am at a loss...

... Any suggestions???

Many of us have stated how we feel about getting our pictures voted down. Why is it so hard to understand that it hurts and limits one wanting to post more pictures? Is it that hard to feel what another person is feeling these days?

I like TD. It's quick and fun to play with when I am procrastinating (a little too much these days )

For those who take it more seriously, try to remember that rejection is part of being an artist; it can be subjective, fickle, petty, mean spirited, unfair, etc. And as Marcella noted, even "great" artists were ridiculed (Picasso and Les Damesoilles (sp?), Matisse and fauvism, etc.) ... they did paint less, they painted MORE.

The rating system seems to have been adjusted in effect to discount outlying data, so if a drawing is getting lots of 5's and then a 1, there's a fair chance it'll end up in the Top 5 at the end of the month. The drawings that won't end up there are the ones that get very few votes.

should be they "did not paint less" ... so much for my typing skills

...Quick... not a word I would use to describe my drawings... I have zero artistic training... I work long & hard to make the pics I draw...

...Fun it is though...

Keep having fun, Matthew

matthew..
Dont stop drawing...as i said, it is purely out of jelousy that people have the nerve to vote you down..they dont want others seeing how great your pictures are compared to theirs, you KNOW they all love your work...who couldn't??? ...DONT let them win....and dont let it put you down....i know how disheratening it is to see one of your time-consuming works falling into the depths of the highest rated gallery... and yes i miss palmasbob...he stopped drawing just after i signed up and i never got to see too many created while i was here. What I'm trying to say is: try seeing the situation from a different perspective...

That's what many of you are not getting, we can't see it differently because it is what it is there is. It isn't that we aren't hearing you it is the other way around.

77. 13 Mar 2009 18:16

DMarla

Well I made a few mistakes but I'm sure you can figure out what I meant to say.

Five - I think your work is wonderful.. wish I had your creativity.!

DMarla - your comment (#69 here) was spot on.

Matthew - yes, it's clearly deliberate, mean-spirited (tho I'd bet a jelly-filled donut that the person feels self-righteous to the point of gleeful), and bloody unfair.

All - I'm thinkin' there needs to be tolerance both ways for this to work as a viable community.

Those that enjoy just relaxing with it -- their work, both their spontaneous drawings and their often spirit-lifting commentary, is valuable... hugely!

Those who use this as a kind of artists' workshop -- their input, both the work itself and their serious approach, should NOT be disdained either.

Would you really want none of the serious ones to stick around? Or only if they agree to stop being serious here?

.......?

Qsily, a big thank you for your saying my comment was spot on and for the rest of what you said, it was spot on as well.
