Taking five's suggestion on the Prayer Request page, this new forum will be the place for people to engage in the kind of name-calling and general ugliness that should not be contaminating either other forums or people's picture-message spots. Please feel free to come here and lash out at anyone or anything, insult other TD users, or whatever else you feel you really need to do. Just don't do it anywhere else, please. You can start by saying why this introduction is further evidence to back up your claim that I'm an agent of Satan if you wish, if you happen to have made such a claim in the prayer requests forum lately, for example. Or perhaps you might want to provide more details about why you believe the prayer requests folks are a sanctimonious hypocrites? Anyone should feel free to engage in no-holds-barred squabbling with anyone else here. All dialogues are more than welcome, as long as they maintain at least an undertone of anger and/or hostility. Otherwise, get out and stay where you belong, which is everywhere else on TD.

Almost forgot the most important thing— whenever you're about to pull the trigger on any message anywhere else, STOP FOR TWO SECONDS, and think: Is this written in anger? If it is, copy it and bring it over here instead! Why waste your venom and vitriol on wimps and wusses who won't appreciate the majestic, volcanic fury of your words? THIS is the place!

And one other thing: Paradoxically, attempts at reconciliations and at defusing others' rage are also welcome here. Even more paradoxically, they should be sincere, and purged of anything that might seem inflammatory. Experience has shown that such messages are in fact the most effective ways to touch off the kinds of raging rants we crave here, but no one seems to appreciate elsewhere. So if you find yourself beginning to drift into any kind of misunderstanding and want to get things back on track, DO IT HERE, and limit any further communication with the other person on other place to a brief, polite notification that your desire to set set things right is expressed HERE. No, wait—don't even mention any desire to set things right because that will inevitably lead to an immediate, explosive blow-out there, where no one will appreciate it. Just say get your ass over to the quarantine forum.

good idea Chelydra... ooops, no, I wanted to say...
BAD, BAD IDEA instead! How in the world could you have had a so stupid idea? You are really a herald of chaos!

chelydra

The chaos is already happening, and it keeps happening all over the place. Efforts to settle things down seem to keep making it worse — and that too happens where it's very unwelcome. So what not invite the chaos here, and keep it here, where it can unleash all its destructive fury without bothering anyone who has the good sense to stay away?

obviously, I was ironic
(this explanation could be useful for people who don't recognise irony)

Like I didn't you mean!??? (I didn't! Now I feel almost ready to test out this new system, feeling smoke and flames welling up inside nostrils, tongue starts to dart in and out and I feel its tip forking...)

Took a few moments to figure out my remark, but at least I managed to figure it out on my own this time... It's that agent of Satan thing! Hmmm... I could enjoy this... Suddenly had a flash about what fun it would be to go call Hazer a sanctimonious hypocrite instead of groveling before her ...so what if she's a real-life saint? Agents of Satan are free to mock and harass real-life saints, in fact it's high on our priorities list very likely ...I'm not sure because I've only just now realized I'd rather become what I'm accused of being rather than just scratch my head in dismay after getting nowhere with my best effort to imitate a genuinely Christian attitude ... what was the previous epithet... oh yeah, self-righteous something-or-other with a female name, that was it... well, the devil can take female form whenever he/she wants, and it's one hot form too if the movie on that subject was accurate—but I doubt if mere agents of Satan can do genuine shape-shifting, although I won't know until I've tried... horns sprouting now... wavy goat-beard - no wait I already had that - a tail would be cool... crimson skin? no that's edema side-effect from sitting at computer too many hours messing around here instead of working on put-off jobs... do agents of Satan have to work for a living or do we get some kind of state subsidy from Hell, and who would I ask, and where?

Good work, Chelydra!
Now if only the ranters would make use of your kind offer....

But Chelydra said and I quote him for your edification:
"
I often do incite and offend, and do it in insidious and calculated ways, and I thrive on conflict though I may pretend not to (I was a political cartoonist in a past life, finding chinks in people's armour and wedging them open)"

Good work indeed! LOL

No need to explain irony, clo. Chelydra, you have once again managed to diffuse the tension with your wonderful sense of humor. You are no more devilish then I am saintish....and please, don't grovel...that's so unbecoming!
I suspect that your efforts to contain the rants may be somewhat akin to trying to contain measles to one spot!
I don't know if this is qualifies as an acrimonious rant, but it's all I've got for now...busy day ahead doing saint type stuff.

If one thinks in the way Satan thinks, then one is being devilish.
That seems to bother some people because they enjoy the devilish ways and listening to the Bible will cramp their impish style.

That sure as hell meets the devilish criteria as the Bible describes it.

The cntext indicates wehether irny is being used or not. There is absolutely NOTHING that indicates that the author was using irony. So the conclusion that irony is being used is merely a baseless one that lacks bpth context and any other kind f rhetorical support. It is therefore mere opinion and baseless mere opinions are the worthless shadows that Plato spoke about in in his cave of ignorance example and are viewed as such by all those familiar with cogent reasoning.

Context indicates whether irony is being used or not. There is absolutely NOTHING that indicates that the author was using irony. So the conclusion that irony is being used is merely a baseless one that lacks both context and any other kind f rhetorical support. It is therefore mere opinion and baseless mere opinions are the worthless shadows that Plato spoke about in in his cave of ignorance example and are viewed as such by all those familiar with cogent reasoning.

So now I'm demoted from "Agent of Satan" to merely "devilish"? With all the effort I've been devoting to make this partnership of ours work well, at least for our own entertainment and egotripping, I would have hoped to be called the Antichrist by now... Sheesh... I feel deflated as well as exhausted now...

While I'm wondering what to try next (I'm not ready to give up on this project), you might have another look at the last paragraph or two of my final effort to emulate the patient gentle Christian approach I found on the prayer request forum. I mean the little story about the college program and that one student who couldn't understand (despite her obvious intelligence) that she was among friends, and we were all on her side... I might add that the minor misunderstandings she kept turning into painful crises (not just with me, with everyone) could have been cheerfully defused and put behind us in a moment if she hadn't been so concerned with defending herself from what she saw as attacks...
Why am I writing this now? I think it was in my third introductory message that I said why attempts at reconciliation are (counter-intuitively) welcome in this forum. To my surprise, I discovered they're the most efficient way to get acrimonious rants re-ignited whenever the flames start to die down.
