This seems to be a popular feature on Channel Goldie, so I thought it’d be a bit of fun to get to know my TD friends with a random questionnaire.

These questions are off the top of my head. I tried not to be too personal or invasive, so if any of my questions make you uncomfortable, just skip ‘em. I’m hoping this will be a silly and enlightening exercise for all of us. I’ve added my answers already for the sake of sportsmanship.

Oh…and please post your own survey questions if you like...:)

1. What is the most exotic/bizarre food you’ve ever eaten?

Balut is pretty out there (boiled, fertilized duck eggs). I know Q doesn’t care much
for it, but I like to eat it every so often. Not something I could eat everyday though.
Oklahoma City has a pretty decent sized Asian district where I can usually get them
raw. A lot of local places only offer balut that has already been cooked.
One of my favorite dishes is cuajito, which is a stew common in Puerto Rico made
from the throw away parts of the pig: stomach, intestines, skin, ears. It’s a little salty, but it has wonderful textures and flavors. It is supposed to be a hangover remedy as well.

2. Last cd/mp3/vinyl/etc. you listened to?

The Warrior’s Code by Dropkick Murphys is what is currently in the cd player in my car. The title track rocks.

3. Do you have any phobias?

Spiders. Especially those little fuzzy black ones with white spots and huge metallic green fang-things. They jump which makes them even scarier. I can’t be in the same room with one of those.
Not fond of clowns either. Pennywise…<shiver>.

4. Any odd obsessions?

I have this thing for dishtowels and potholders. Pretty ones with embroidery or lace on them. I don’t know why I like them, but every time I go into a department store I have to go see what kinds of dishtowels and/or potholders they have. And if they’re on sale—forget about it—they’re going home with me. I have an impressive collection in my linen closet that I never use because I don’t want to mess them up. My husband physically blocks me from entering the kitchenware aisles of any store.

5. Do you own a firearm?

Yes. 9mm. And a concealed carry permit. My husband insisted I get it when I was pregnant with my daughter. My job is a twenty-mile commute from my home, and I have to drive home late at night sometimes. He wanted me to have it in case my car broke down. He says there are a lot of crazies out there.

6. You’re at a bar with an impressive liquor selection. What do you order?

I like Knob Creek. It’s a bourbon whiskey. To me, it tastes a little like Crown Royal but without the bite and with a slight sweetness to it. Very smooth stuff. I also swear by Grey Goose vodka. But I’d probably just order a Coors Light.

7. It’s tax season! Have you filed already or do you wait until April?

I file as soon as I get my W2 which is almost always on January 30th or 31st. My place of employment always waits ‘til the last minute to get them out.

8. Longest distance you’ve ever traveled in a car?

From Oklahoma to Orlando, Florida. Hubby and I drove straight through. It took us about twenty-two hours.

9. It’s almost Valentine’s Day. What type of bouquet would you like to receive or buy for yourself perhaps? If you’re a dude, what type of bouquet would you buy for your wife/girlfriend?

I like lilies—the tiger variety. I’m also fond of tulips.

10. Summer, winter, spring, or fall?

I come from tropical people. I hate cold weather which is unfortunate because there is five+ inches of snow on the ground right now. It’s pretty, but I miss the sun. When I win the lotto I’m moving somewhere where the temperature stays at about 85 degrees F all year round. If you live in such a place give me a heads up…

11. Do you currently have a valid passport?

Yes. Everyone in my family does. We go to Vietnam every other year.

12. List five marvels of modern technology that you couldn’t live without:

In no particular order:
1. My cell phone
2. DVR
3. Internet
4. Programmable coffee pots
5. Cruise control

Heidi, what are Tooters?

5. 8 Feb 2010 16:40

Heidi2323

Tooters are ready made shots in test tubes with names like Alabama Slamma, and other silly names. Great for girls weekends when all the old buddies get together and party like we did in high school! The biggest difference is, now we are done at 11. We used to just be getting started then...LOL

Lets see.....

1. Grilled Alligator. I had the chance to try balut. My friend Agnes is
from the Philippines and I went to a family event
she was hosting at her house. It was served as an
appetizer before the main meal. It quite literally
made me sick when I saw it. It disturbed me so
badly I had a nightmare about it! lol

2. The Momma Mia sound track. My girls love to sing the songs!

3. Balut.......LOL

4.I'm a salad separator. Any salad I order I take the meat,
croutons, cheese and shredded carrots
off and set them aside. Mix my greens,
onions and green pepper toghether
with salad dressing and then pick
something different to go with each bite
such as a crouton for one bite then
maybe some cheese on the next!lol

5. A 9mm I was taught how to use a gun when I
fairly young and have always enjoyed
going to the shooting range. I started
carring one in my purse after getting
held up at gunpoint in front of my kids
at Wal Mart. The jerk never took my
and let me keep my hand inside it the
whole time. If I had had the gun with
me I would have given him more bang
for the buck!

6. Blueberry martini I'm not fond of fruity drinks but this one
is very subtle and surprising.

7. ASAP!!!!

8. Athens Ala to Montauk NY

9. Daisys

10. Spring and Fall

11. No

12. Laptop, cell phone (even though I will not talk on it while shopping),

I'm also quite claustrophobic!

4. I'm a bit of a neat freak. I always feel best when my surroundings are in order.

5. We Canadians are discouraged from carrying firearms, but I do have a very impressive collection of kitchen knives!

6. On the very rare occasion that I drink alcohol, it would be a Pina Colada or Strawberry Daiquiri

7. I like to get them done as soon as possible.

8. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Chicago round trip.

9. Very expensive and highly stylized...one can always dream right?

10. Absolutely love the cool crisp air of fall, not to mention the gorgeous colors. I just usually doesn't last long enough!

Dragon

1. What is the most exotic/bizarre food you’ve ever eaten?
I guess Boar. I had it at a fondue restaraunt in Banff. I’m still kicking myself for not getting the exotic platter which included Alligator, Rattlesnake, Frog, Shark and Buffalo.

2. Last cd/mp3/vinyl/etc. you listened to?
Colin James – Limelight It’s possibly the best album he’s ever done.

3. Do you have any phobias?
Just pretty much spiders and other creepy crawlies. They give me the cold shivers.

For some reason I always seem to think I need more extension cords. I really have to stop my self from buying them when I see them in the store. I have a whole box full of extension cords in our shed.

5. Do you own a firearm?
Have never owned one and have never fired one. But I would be interested in learning how.

6. You’re at a bar with an impressive liquor selection. What do you order?
I have a particular fondness for Cosmopolitans but if they had Sailor Jerry’s rum I might have to order a Jerry Coke or 2 (or 3)

7. It’s tax season! Have you filed already or do you wait until April?
I typically do it sometime in March. I only just got my T4 last month so I haven’t done it yet this year. (Thank god for tax software cause I hated doing it by hand!)

8. Longest distance you’ve ever traveled in a car?
I guess that would be Spokane, Wa to Red Deer, Ab via Osoyoos, Kelowna, Clearwater and Rocky Mountain House.

9. It’s almost Valentine’s Day. What type of bouquet would you like to receive or buy for yourself perhaps? If you’re a dude, what type of bouquet would you buy for your wife/girlfriend?
I too am a lily lover, my lily of choice is the Calla. (I have yet to ever receive them)

10. Summer, winter, spring, or fall?
Definitely summer. I’ve often said I’m a Mexican trapped in a Canadian body.

11. Do you currently have a valid passport?
Yes, and it has way too few stamps in it. We need to travel a lot more than we do.

12. List five marvels of modern technology that you couldn’t live without:
Internet (what would I do without my ThinkDraw fix?), cell phone, dvd player, satellite radio, anti-lock brakes (had a car without them once- it drove me crazy! I’ll never go back)

Thank you autumn and polenta. Polenta, I realize that some of these questions might not pertain to those who live outside of the U.S., so I understand why you skipped some questions. But I was wondering, is there any sort of tax system in Uruguay? Where does the government get its funding?

Of course there is a tax system. I've already commented about it. Sorry I don't remember where it is in the forum. If anything, my husband or his accountant take care of it.
