This has been a very interesting 'channel' for me. So here's one more survey:
What is money to you?
a) a means of obtaining the goods that you want.
b) the necessary bad: i only use them for covering needs.
c) something that guarantees the material stability to people i love.
d) the 'guardian' of values: money help me preserve/improve something valuable: art collection, research, etc.
e) something else: .... (please state your opinion )
It's a multiple choice question, of course, but please feel free to express more thoughts on this.

The importance of money is 110% for basic needs like food, clothes, electricity, the normal bills.
For the rest, at my age it's not so important.

A good question Shanley. I guess for me it's a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand it's a necessity for covering the basics of food shelter and health care, etc. There were times in my life when we had barely enough to live on, no money for any extras. I don't know what we would have done at that time if we had not been living in the country and able to grow our own food. We also had a caring community and we all helped each other out...and that's a whole other story.
Today, we live in the city, have enough money to meet our needs, and are able to give to charity, and indulge in our hobbies. But the trade off for that level of financial comfort means in our case, that my husband is usually away from home during the week. Not an ideal situation. We are working on a plan to enable us to work together...but that again, is another story...

I'm only 14, so my answers may be quite disagreed with. I believe that money is a harmful, hurtful thing. My mom lost her job, and my parents are divorced. Money has always been a worry of ours. I understand elwhat they tell us in school, "money is a unit used for trade." by it's more than that. it's worse than that.

FBO, your answers are valid, as they reflect your own experiences. Very sorry to hear about your mom's job loss, and I hope that she finds another one soon. Money is a necessary evil for the most part, and I pray your situation improves.

I hope your mom soon finds another job, FBO. Money means food in your stomach and a roof over your head. I hope the good times come soon.

Thanks everybody we're in a huge financial mess right now. we've been living with our roommates, and his kid is going to be visiting for a whole month in summer. He's going to need a bedroom... he is taking ours. Also, our roommates are a man and a woman. They are engaged, and getting married in October. My mom is maid of honor, and I'm fower girl. We were supposed to spend about $600 on dresses this month. They had to buy ours, and we're going to pay them back. I've been looking for babysitting jobs. For all the money i get, about half of it goes to my mom, the other half goes to my pile of money in the bank devoted to my future car. my mom has a place to store all her furniture, but she'll be jumping from couch to couch of her friends. Now, I'm going to have to live full time with my dad for a month. I don't know what I'm going to do... my mom will probably pick us up and hang out with me and my sister for a day, but go back to my dads sometimes. I worry... about her more than myself. But, selfeshly, i kind of admit that I do worry about myself quite a bit. I don't know what I'll do only getting to see my mom for small portions of time at once. this summer was the one that we decided that we would get a lot closer, since we've grown apart since my parents' divorce. Thats great... more time with my dad. My dad's not a bad person, don't get me wrong. I love my daddy <3 i just need time with my mom too. I don't know how I'm going to survive this summer.

The last thing I read...still reading J.P. Sartre's work. Fascinating....I tend to believe Dr.House got out of his plays. :|
