Sorry, I was so curious about the Top 5 (or 4?) that I came to the Forum this time. I confess I really didn't read all the answers above with all the math included in them (with all due respect) but I think some people are complaining and others say it's improvable etc.
Here goes a crazy idea that just crossed my mind. What about if you show the pic in the gallery to be rated without saying WHO drew it. Then it will be rated by its real value, regardless on "rivalries" or other normal human feelings. If anything, after the monthly voting is done, each picture could be identified. CRAZY, isn't it?

Not so crazy, polenta ... it's a sensible idea. I'm not sure how it would work out in the end, but it's worth some thought.

That would not stop the one voter...

No, you're right matthew, it wouldn't.

I agree with Matthew. Qsilv had some awesome pictures in the last showcase that got voted down, and others that were not as spectacular that remained at 5. It's the really great pictures that get one votes.

I posted this idea awhile ago. I like the idea and still hope this is implicated at some point but the voting system needs to be fixed/changed as well in some way that will be easier not to cheat/spoil with the votes.

There are so many awesome pictures in March Gallery--some even breathtaking as far as I am concerned---how does the top 5 arrive there each month??? pardon my ignorance---and if anyone answers--please no math!!!

Well, it all started off very simply, buzz. The Top 5 in each category earned their place by achieving the highest rating throughout the month.
Then someone started giving very low votes (1) on really excellent drawings. We hoped they would just go away but it got worse.

As the site grew, with more and more players, there were so many drawings each day that even a vote of 4 could send a superb drawing spiralling out of sight and lost in the heap. Because it was so far down in the gallery, people would not see it and so it usually got no more votes.
Currently, Think Draw are trying to find a better system of voting, so that this no longer happens. It's not an easy task and many of us have made suggestions in Feedback Forum. However, all ideas have to be tried and tested ... and it's at that stage now.

Login, that was very well put. I am sure others shared buzz's question.

Truth be told, the top 5 is just a figment of my vivid imagination... As are all of you...

Perhaps one day; like Pinochio; you may all be real...

I wish you the best of luck...

Till then, I will continue to wonder why I ever imagined Baldur... Perhaps it is his gardening & cooking tips...

Well matthew, sometimes we can't control where our mind will wander to.

matthew, it is a testimony to your brilliance that you imagined me.
