I'd like to be notified if a drawing of mine is censored. I thought I'd know but I just realized that my “Dancing in the Light of a Solar Flare”

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=53652

has yet again been censored and I hadn’t noticed as I hadn’t been looking for it in the gallery.

I think there should be notification if any one of our drawings is censored so that we can protest if we’d like to and so we get that feedback as well.

I have to say I can’t imagine that this particular drawing was flagged for any reason but that someone is unhappy with me personally and wants to get at me in this way as there have been way more explicit drawings, even some of my own, that have not been censored.

I understand the reasons for the option to flag a drawing and I have flagged at least one in the past and will again if I see something that is actually offensive to me but having been given that option I think we should be given the opportunity to address the situation too.

Wow... There is an Anti-Solosater club...

That is the only explination to censor that pic... I never thought about it before... I may have other pics censored & don't know... I usually only find out when I post one in the forum & no pic shows up...

Now I gotta look... I like the idea of yours that we become notified by a comment on the effected pic...

Not bad... Only 2 of them censored...

Odd that 2 of my 3 jesus pics were censored... Rachel wont uncensor them because of the graphic nature... But if we never know that a pic was censored, how can we appeal it...

Great request Solo...

Maddyjean, drawings can indeed be censored.

It requires 3 (three) people (out of the more than 7,000) who are users of the TD site to flag the drawing as offensive.

On the display page of each drawing is a button that says "Report" on it, by hitting this button you report the drawing as offensive to the website.

After 3 (three) such reports the drawing is automatically pulled from the main gallery.

In the past both matthew and I have had drawings censored and then when we asked Rachel (the TD Goddess) to reinstate the drawings she has made the determination at that point. The last time was the drawing I posted above and matthew's "BREAST CANCER IS NO JOKE!!!"

http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=53808

When I asked Rachel to reinstate these she looked into it and discovered that all the flags were reported by the same IP address (one person reported the drawing 3 times by logging in under 3 different user names) so she reinstated them both.

As for the notification, I think it would be better to have e-mail notification of any censorship, I don't know that I would see the notice if it were in the comments on the drawing but I would definitely see it in my inbox.

I would not see it in my inbox... I choose not to have notices like that sent to my email, but i do see comments on my pics... perhaps having both options would be possible...

There is the comments on the profile page but that only shows the last 6 or 7 (I'm not really sure), if they could put a flag on it and make it so it stayed at the top until you acknowledged it, that would work too...

They could put a little flag nest to your picture in your personal gallery to note that it had been flagged.

I thought the first time around that they should put a place holder in the gallery that said something like this picture has been censored at the request of our users...

But the same goes that I don't look throught the gallery to see my old drawings and in my gallery it's there without any notes. I can see putting a notice in my gallery next to the drawing but I still think days, weeks or even months could go by before I'd see it.

Any notice would be nice so long as it stayed until it was acknowledged.

The reasoning behind my thought that I'd like to see a place holder there in the gallery is that if I'd submitted it to the showcase I'd like to have people still know it was there.

I do see that there could be issues if it was censored for sexual content or nudity, which is most likely for mine, we have so many young ones on that would find that even more tempting than an uncensored drawing of the same thing.

Did that make any sense at all???

solo's not so much awake today.

When I was young I guarantee you that if i saw the word CENSORED... I was sure to check it out... So your point has teeth...

Speaking of teeth... Gotta go see if Bella is still shaking her pom poms...

(Don't ask me why teeth made me think of that...)

Pom poms?

I'm on the same page with matthew. Whenever I'm watching TV and the thing comes on saying 'This program deals with mature subject matter. Some viewers may be offended' I always think,"Ooo, this ought to be something good."

You're right Dragon. Like Family Guy and American Dad. And I think Dr.G.

Dragon

I don't know the show Dr.G. (It's funny though cause I work with a Dr.G and he's the least offensive person I've ever met)

Im VERY new to this cite, so my opinion is completly biased based the few pics Ive seen that have become censored. But dont people join cites like these to escape the presure of censorship and to expell their free speech in art form? Otherwise I would have played with my Windows 2000 version of paint and myspaced it to the world.
