lynspotter, I saw the website whose address you gave.
Of course we see there that the swastica has been only a logo or symbol throughout history. But this is like in Pavlov's experiments with dogs. You associate this symbol with what some people did in its name. The geometrical shape is as innocent as any other shape.
It's like DIRTY WORDS. What makes a word dirty? After all it's a succession of sounds uttered or written by someone. If you don't know the language, you won't be offended by it. What makes it dirty is the INTENTION, THE ASSOCIATIONS, THE HISTORY of the word.

I remember having seen two or three pics with a swastika some months ago. I didn't comment but saw it and my heart began to beat. Luckily they were removed by Think Draw. Maybe if the artist had at least written a comment saying it was an old Indo-European symbol or something but he only drew two or three swastikas. I felt it was like he was trying to begin a discussion. I think a symbol that represents genocide is so repulsive that I have no words . Does anyone remember?

The thongs don't bother me but I'm not a huge fan of them either. They are just for fun though and not meant to be taken as serious "art" I believe.

As for the swastika, I'm not sure of the origin but I do know the Nazis stole it from some other group and used it for their own purposes. I still think it isn't something most people look at and have good feelings toward. If a person of whatever culture it came from wanted to draw it and made it clear it was not in the context of white supremacy or anti-Semitism then I would not have a problem with it.

I agree for the most part with the idea of not looking at something you don't want to see; change the channel, flip the page, walk out of a movie, these are all good solutions that don't interfere with another persons choices.
