ZeroMerc, don't ever think you're opinion matters less than those who've been on this site for longer. Everyone's opinion matters, even the controversial opinions that are not well liked.

the pics for the Italy theme are awesome. Choosing the top 5 is going to be tough. you all are great artists. I get so engrossed looking at all the beautiful, I don't have time to doodle

IamAnonymous just made my point for me. I have not been here long enough; so how could I possibly understand.

This is not my first website with a voting system you know.

On note, when I am completely bogged down with life I often finding myself turning to my 5 & 6 year old toddlers for a fresh perspective (not that i a drop my work and life issues on my kids but I stop everything and spend the day with them and try to see the world through their new eyes)

I am simply stating that if you are getting your feelings hurt about some votes that are bringing you down (intentional or not) perhaps its time for a fresh perspective.

ZeroMerc, I feel bad that you walk into something thats been going on for awhile. You came in with this joyous felling, commenting how much you are enjoying the site. Well I for one do love it here, and it is about the comments, that make it more fun. You probably read how I feel about the voting, and we all have our own opinion on it. But some here have found a way to get extra votes, as it has been important to them in the showcases. So yes, there is a few problems, as in alot of these type of sites. Your opinion is very important, and I hope you continue to enjoy drawing and the forum!!

I personally have given up submitting pics to the showcases... The showcase is simply a good thing to keep pics rolling... It gives us a uniform idea of what to draw... Keeps the creative juices flowing...

As for the complaining that goes on... I believe all things work together for good... Out of the complaining, a lot of improvements have been made... I used to be quite a voice against the voting system & it was changed a little so that a 1 vote was not as painful... It still needs tweaking & it will be... The voices of opposition will see to it...

You say you are a "newbie"... Not true... Think Draw is still quite a new site in and of itself... We are ALL newbies... I have been on for 6 months... If the site was 10 years old, I would be a newbie... So that is just perception... Keep drawing... Let those who thrive in controversy do their thing...

All things work together for good... I truely believe that...

I think the "mood swing" is a lot of fresh faces drawing. I think we can end this topic. I'm sure it will rear its ugly head again, but i like the comments i've seen. Just draw and let the votes take care of themselves. I personally like votes, but i also don't want to get voted down. I'll probably never see one of my piks in a top five, but i enjoy the "evolution" of when i am creating them, and trust me my wife just watched me "draw" and it was an evolution...

i guess the "war" isn't over yet. Matthew if you read my comment to your "lai" pik and then look at your stars its a crime that you were voted down. I gave you a "5" and would have given you a 50 if i could. Just plain awesome. I'm sure i'll here it in my ear, but its about the "art". When are people going to get it. I don't like trying to copy published pictures from the web, books, etc. everyone has their own style. Mine comes from inside and what comes out on the page. oh heck, i need to go to bed.

gwinnyb - " but I kind of see why someone decides to throw us off the front. toward the end of a showcase the same pics have been in the front of the showcase for so long no one gets a chance to see the others without paging thru the whole lot to see what is new"

That point made my whale picture get a 1 vote ... I really think its one of my best and one of the few of my pictures that got noticed but sadly I forgot that if I submit a picture at the beginning of the month I never make top 5 or ... should I say always get voted down.

My pictures tend to get ignored ... thats fine with me but I HATE one votes on pictures that have so many 5s ....(4 is okay but 1?)

I tend to draw at the end of the month and then submit my picture it tends to take me weeks....

I don't care if pictures are rotated in the show case ... they should have a most recent ones so that you don't have to look through them all. But being voted down in the beginning of the month because a showcase... might have had others that were there last month is ridiculous... I mean they deserve to be on the top with votes if they are good... don't they?
(AND if the person who did that voting down on the showcase for water {about 7 others were voted down with mine} please ... please check the date....)

I don't draw as much any more really so just ignore me... *goes away* (I would rather not submit a picture that I drew then get a 1 after I think it is my BEST or at least close to it)... so most likely I'll keep enjoying other's work but not draw much or anymore....

I wish ... that something would be done...

What is the matter with you, people? Where is the tragedy? - it's just the "storm in a glass of water". The wonderful project is turning sour because you fill underestimated? Why can't you be happy with any attention your work gets? People have different opinions, personalities, preferences and - some like your pic a lot, some think you could have done better. Why can't you be grateful for whatever you have? Is it really important to be nominated in the group that includes some well-trained adults along with 8-9 years old kids? What an honor!...
I vote, never stopped. I gave 5 to exquisite portrait of Leonardo and I gave 5 to the 8-years old romanian girl for her effort in drawing animals... Do you think it is less important for her - to be noticed?
Excuse me, but I do not understand what kind of PMS the whole project is going through...

Has anyone noticed on the showcase, pages 5 and 6 at all the ones that were voted down. Really pathetic!!!!!

OK, I got it. Nobles should be separated from pariahs. First page needs to be reserved for the best...
I have no problem going through the whole showcase daily and voting for those not on the top. And even on pages 4 & 5 those who are really good have fairly high number of votes. What's the drama?

35. 20 May 2009 19:50

matthew

...I am sure that it must be me voting down pics in the showcase so that my pic will be noticed...

...Oh wait... I don't have a pic in the showcase... Perhaps I have tired of the drama & finger pointing...

... I have a posse insuring that I wont make the top 5 this month... Yet knowing that I will be voted down, I continue to draw as time allows... I am looking forward to not making the top 5 & moving on (perhaps)...

... Be patient... TD is growing & improving as quick as they can... All will be ironed out in time... If drawing for your own enjoyment isn't enough ... give up & come back in a year or 2...

...Don't get me wrong, I feel your pain... It used to drive me insane everytime I was voted down... But what I discovered over the last 6 months is that I really enjoy the "escape" I get when I draw... I have never drawn anything before Think Draw... I wish I picked this up when I was young... I have learned so much in 6 months & can't wait to see what I will be able to do in 10 years...

...And if God blesses me with breath in my lungs, I hope to be here drawing for many many more years to come...

I get quite a giggle out of having my very own "anti-matthew" neighborhood... Who else can claim THAT!!!

Ah-Ha...

For Matthew:
Leonardo did not hane mudh respect for Tizian, he called hin "The Tailor" because, from his point of view T. paid too much attention to the fabrics. It havn's stop Tizian from painting and we all admire his paintings.
Tizian, in his turn, being offended by Leonardo, recommended him to the Pope - to do the painting in the Sixtine chapel. He thought that Leonardo will fail.
And the result of this intrique we can all enjoy now.
THINK DRAW! And enjoy!
