Rachel,

First, Thanks for your quick response to Marg.
2nd, Did you mean would we rather see the faces medium to be changed OR a whole new medium? That is how I understood it.

I would rather see a whole new one...

Matthew, sorry the question wasn't clearer.

For Faces, we were considering changing it completely but leaving the current Faces theme available as a separate theme.

So a new Faces theme (still based on cartoon style faces but with much more variation) or something completely different?

LOL... Now I want both...

Actually, It appears a similar change was done in Gothic & People still wonder how those old pics were done... So a revamp of faces could be cool... But we always get giddy with completely new mediums as well...

...I want both, but would be excited to have either...

How about more color options in that category?
So much of it was black and white, people did all sorts of contortions to scrape color out of the earrings etc

But don't make it TOO easy...

mmm.. I'd love something completely different..

..the current Faces still allows loads of unexplored options, but something new would be great (with some soft edges, please) !

matthew you tend to shun the easy things anyway. I could picture you piling thousands of eyelashes because 1/9th of the left edge of each was an odd mauve color jusy so you could do a background for a poledancer.

All new themes are always welcome, I'm still looking for the pasta theme I suggested;-)

Have you sorted the gallery lately, by Faces - Most Ratings? There are some amazing drawings in there. Faces certainly is difficult to use but some (many) have used it brilliantly. The difficulty of the category has stretched the imagination, not to mention skill.

Doing that now, I get back to you.

WOW, that's all I have to say for now.

hdwildmustang’s “Three Little Fishies” & “Sailin the Ocean Blue tie'd”, “dots” by yahoo, “nice to meet you” by autumn, “CLIFF DIVERS @ HAUNTED ROCK” by palmasbob and matthew’s “hanging upside down”

All before my time on TD but I'd seen them.

Then there was “SKY = 400 EAR RINGS!!!” by matthew and Snowball fight by carredwyn on the same day and that was it for me. I don’t think I ever much cared to see a FACE from the theme after that.

Also, I'm so impressed with mekeys' "Blue River" most resently.

I thought when he first found us I'd have to break his mousing hand (not because his work was bad but I was just done of it quickly) but wow he's come so far!

I look for his work now.

Have you seen how raydog's drawings have changed lately? He's always done good floral drawings, but he's branched out and done a sailing ship ... perhaps that lull in the gallery inspired him.

I did see this, I wasn't familiar with his work and it caught my eye, very nice.

I have been wondering about a landscapes theme; fall foliage (yellow, orange, red),blooming trees (white, pink) mountain pieces (snow, shadow rock) or not, sky pieces (blue shades, gray shades, clouds, sun, and sun set pieces), water (green, blue gray, pond, ocean waves, shining in the sunlight), fields (green, hues, gold), shrubbery (variations in light/shadow). this would give the more expert artists hues and shades to use, as well as a full color spectrum. this is why I choose my palette: for color needed and ability to shade on a more graded scale. for these things natural palettes tend to lend themselves to a more realistic product. where only hard edges are available one gets a more graphic cartoony feel. there is a place for that, but it is tough to soften that work. I think that this theme would also work well for younger artists learning by offering a variety of color and shape to work with. food for thought.

How about natural materials like different wood grains, stone, brick, tile, slate, coloured marble and some manmade materials like coloured glass and various metals?

I like anything that give me lots of color/hue variationsand different shade values to work with so that sounds really good as well
