I think an appliances theme would be cool- you know, like refrigerators and ovens etc.

Trees, please. We have flowers and fruit, but no trees—branches, bark, root systems, pine cones, to say nothing of the chipmunks, songbirds, monkeys and porcupines (and bugs! There's a perfect them in itself!) infesting forest canopies. We have some stylized leaves in Gothic, but the endless colors and shapes of foliage await. Pine needles would give us something linear to work with.

From the perspective of drawing constrictions, a theme that has both transparencies and a bit of solid black would be a dream come true. That could be trees, if (a) the foliage were slightly translucent (as in real life), and (b) some the branches were the dark wet silhouettes (ditto).

oh yes, trees would be a gorgeous theme!!

I agree with the other chelydra's suggestion too.

What - there's ANOTHER chelydra ? ... I won't be able to sleep tonight..

25. 6 Dec 2013 05:47

marg

whoops - should have explained -

I think 'trees' is an absolutely knock-out brilliant idea... throw in some old Cambodian temples that have been taken over by the jungle, and I'd think my dreams had all come true

Oh my! this is the limit of my Eniglish! LOL
I would say the other suggestion of Chelydra, of course... but now I see the ambiguity!

Now my mind will keep wandering about the other chelydra...

... and mine too... what a thought!

What an idea though... trees! Or maybe, as (the original) chelydra and marg have already hinted at, the theme could be expanded to 'Forests', which would then allow for beautiful mossy greens, and fungi of various hues, and understorey foliage from different types of forest (tree ferns, philodendrons, bluebells etc)... so many possibilities to get excited about!

I'm thinking, too, that I have lots of photos of such things which you'd be very welcome to take bits and pieces from to help create such a theme. I'm quite sure I'm not the only tree/forest lover on TD... maybe fellow TDers from other parts of the world would be able to do the same? Just a thought...

I like the idea of TD'ers submitting pictures of their own trees/forests etc. That could be a very cool competition- maybe there could be a special forum post, and the users could all add their pictures?

I could certainly find some interesting trees to photograph!

In these days, when we are thinking about how to celebrate Christmas, I remembered people on earth who are fighting day by day for survival and their number is continuously growing. What do you think about this topic for TD: "Fighting for survival "?

Wow, it's been over a month - sorry for the delay.

I would love to do a trees theme, if people can contribute pieces or photos to do it from. The only worry would be variation but I trust that there is enough creativity on your part to get round this.

So, if we are going to do this together, please post pieces, photos or just your ideas to the Think Draw Facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Thinkdrawcom/37485742825

Anyone who doesn't use that social network but wants to contribute, please send a message through the feedback form.

Thank you! Let's see how this goes...

Okay... so I started looking through my photos of trees, and very quickly realised that there are hundreds, maybe even thousands, that could be of interest, depending on what you're after.

I'm sure you don't want that many to sort through from each of us, so perhaps you'd like to give us some idea of what would be useful to you. Do you want only photos of trees, or bits thereof, or also fauna and flora that grow on and live in trees? Or would you like it to be broader still, so that we could include things that live in forests?

Maybe you have ideas of what categories you envisage having within the theme... different barks, leaves, fruits, flowers, lichens, mosses, fungi etc?

Also, do the pics have to be of a minimum resolution?

This could be great, though I think you may well have the problem of too many to choose from, so if you'd like to narrow it down that might help us make good choices for things to send you.

Thanks again for the effort you put into TD; it's appreciated as much as ever!

Thanks for the response.

You are right, I guess we need to break the theme down into categories as well as collecting useful pictures. I love the ideas that you listed.

Each piece needs to be 180x180 pixels so we can create larger resolution files of the pictures. This will be fine from most photos, and I am happy to edit the pieces out from the photo.

Hi TD!

First of all, I hope you're doing great!
I just wanted to ask about the Valentines theme. When going to my gallery I've noticed that there's a theme that was not available before and that has had only one picture: Valentines.
The pic dates back to the 4th of June 2008, so I was wondering what happened to it.

Greetings,

Shanley

Yes, there is a Valentines theme on the way. This is just a very quick theme thrown together this week. The TREES theme will still be coming soon....
