I am pulling the hair out of my head at this point. I have lost at least six of my drawings just as I was about to submit them. The screen would flash and I'd be bounced back to my home page, with the pic I just spent hours on lost in hyperspace for the end of time. Naturally they were six truly fantastic works of art that I labored over for hours on end, and now...gone forever. Ohhh, woe is me and sadness for you to have missed out on such masterful submissions. I did my rendition of the Last Supper (a plate with gravy stains and a knife and fork), the Scream (which had audio with it), John Glenn's first steps on the moon with his famous "leap words" over his head and the earth reflected in his helmet, and Georgia O'Keefe's Gardenia in its pure earthy tones of purple and orange (those were her first choice of colors). Now I just lost probably the most prized of all. I spent hours and hours on my back with my laptop suspended over my head recreating creation as seen in the Scistene Chapel. And I sob on because no one cares that this mere doodler has computer problems that cause rage and fury. Thanks for hearing me out. I'm feeling better, and I'm sure super glue will hold some of that hair back in place. Thank you. ---Gremmy

It has happened to all of us. I suppose now you are truly a TD initiate. My sympathy goes out to you. And yes, super glue does amazing things...

it might help a bit, if you have not already done this, to change the settings on your profile page-
scroll down to "my settings" and check the box that says warn me when leaving drawing page. this may not relate to your problem , but it is a good thing to do anyway.

So sorry Gremmy. Yes it has happened to most of us and while I couldn't tell you what your problem is, I do know that I was having major problems with my Browser (? I think). I have used AOL, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome and have had problems with all. Thanks to suggestions of mum23 and qsilv, I started using Mozilla Firefox and haven't had a problem since. Fingers crossed. Good luck.

Thank you for your sympathy and suggestions. I do have that checked in my profile, but it flitters away before I hit the submit button, like as I'm dragging the cursor up to select it but don't even reach it. I use Safari for my browser in MacOSX, but I'm going to retry in Mozilla Firefox and see how that works. I love this site, and have just recently (two days ago) found ThinkWrite, and I don't give up that easily...but I needed to release the steam of losing what I worked on.

Thanks again for your support and your calming shoulder to cry on.

I don't know what your problem is, but you have all my sympathy Gremmy. It occourred at all of us. Often it was for a misclick, that swich off the drawing page to another unintentionally. I'm setted the option in my profile too, yet the misclick still works
The last time I have this problem I drew this:

then I was enlightened and found my way for solving the problem:

since then, I never, never more have a pic lost.

I hope this helps you!

Thanks again for your sympathy. Cloro, I will try your suggestion on my next draw. Makes sense if there is nothing else to click on my mistake. My other complaint was that saving things as a draft didn't help because that was lost as well. Oh, well. It's being used for fun, and I am having fun despite the ire I feel at the loss. It was practice so that what does get shown looks better. That's the way I have to think of it. But I appreciate all the sympathy and know how you have felt when your stuff has been lost. Now to try a drawing... Thanks, Gremmy

yes Gremmy, when you load a draft you previously have saved, it will be no more memorized on TD, so if you close it without publish or save it again, it's lost.

If you want a good representation of the feeling of another TDer when losing a pic, look at this by mum23! :-D

Gremmy, here is a previous thread on the same subject.

Clearing the cache worked for some people. Changing to a different browser (Internet Explorer in this case) worked for me. Either 'remedies' are worth a try.

Oh Gremmy, I do sympathise with you! We all know how you feel. I hope that one of the solutions offered here helps you.

Yes, Cloro! Mum23 captured the rage I felt that day. Thanks, Mum...a mirror would have shown that exact expression on losing a series of my stuff. Thank the Lord my stuff isn't worth anything, but my time was just dribbled away and that is what just caused me to grab my hair in clumps and clench my teeth (if I had any) in rage!

Thanks everyone for your support and understanding. It is good to know I'm not alone in this state of annoyance and frustration. I have been using Mozilla for the last couple of days and that does make a little bit of a difference, so I'll stick with that for a while. Thank you, everyone!!!!!

I have gone back into history and gotten some pictures back.I have hit the wrong key myself a few times..

We are so sorry for all the lost work, not to mention all the 'Rage and fury'. It should now be possible in emergencies to get your last draft of a picture back. So if this does happen to you again, please get in touch and we will see if it can be fixed. Sorry to say this won't work for anything already lost, but any drafts now in existence should be covered.

Wow! Think Draw, thank you so much. That is so awesome. I have lost my connection before while working on a pic, and it is very comforting to know that a draft can be recovered.
