Something about that music just makes you want to get up and shake your booty, doesn't it?

Normal

Sure does! Too bad my booty is not in the same category as theirs!

I am so glad you saw the video. Of course it was on a stage but Tina Ferreira began as a simple amateur, like many who dance in the streets wearing flip-flops or very simple T-shirts.
CANDOMBE has passed so many barriers that in the street official parade called LLAMADAS we even see very important personalities. This year there was a senator played the drum and last year it was the female minister of health.
Candombe rhythm is very African and it used to be very linked to the original African beat of the slaves. It's beginning to get a little contaminated.... but progress and change are part of life. Nevertheless the authorities have strict regulations so that if the groups want to participate in the official contest they can't avoid the regulations.
Happy Carnival!!!!
Ours lasts about 40 days and is mainly street or open air stage shows including music, dance, parody, social and political criticism of the year and mise en scene.

OK Baldur here is a street parade (only some minutes though it lasts hours ). All of them are amateur. The streets are very narrow because paraders only want the streets of THIS neighborhood ,where many black people used to live.
Nowadays many white people are members of these groups.

Man it must be hard to do all that moving around on those narrow streets with those incredible feather outfits. If I had the body for it I'd so want to wear one of those costumes.

Auntie B has more feathered carnival costumes than one could shake a stick at.

Baldur, would you allow me to ask a question to your listeners?
WHAT THREE THINGS DO YOU LOOK AT FIRST IN A MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITE SEX (IF YOU ARE HETEROSEXUAL) OR ANY POSSIBLE SEXUAL PARTNER?

For example, it could be:
eyes, lips, legs OR

intelligence, money, hands..... etc, etc.
THANKS BALDUR

This is one of those moments when I am glad that matthew has been somewhat scarce.
Maybe polenta's question will slip by without him noticing.

My answers would be eyes, intelligence, sense of humor.

Back to the Carnival topic.
A terrible fire has destroyed 4 warehouses in Rio De Janiero where many of the costumes and some of the floats for this year's Carnival were stored.
With only 4 weeks to go there is little hope that much of it can be built or replaced. This is tragic to the many people who have worked all year to perform and compete at Carnival.

Please keep these people in your thoughts.

I'm new by three weeks, and just dropped by. May I answer the question of the three things I would notice on the opposite sex? Well, I love broad solid shoulders, intellectual humor, and honesty. I guess you could say I want someone who can carry me around on his shoulders as he tells me smart ass jokes that have a ring of truth to them. Thanks for letting me share.

That truly is a tragedy and I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers. What a shame!

gremmy, you are quite welcome to contribute your thoughts on Radio Baldur any time.

I know a sense of humour and intellegence are the 2 biggest things I find attractive in a man, though it doesn't hurt if he has nice eyes too.

I'm inclined to agree with the answers so far. Eyes certainly tell us a lot on first appearances. Intelligence and humour have to be discovered. Maybe I look for an element of humility along with those two qualities.

In a couple minutes I'm taking this year's online test to qualify as a contestant on Jeopardy.
Wish me luck.
