Haven't read much beyond what you mentioned, but Wikipedia brings several to mind that would be fun to look into. He had a fierce wit. Lots of his bits & pieces - like his comments on the German language - are floating around. Seems he had a Joan of Arc obsession! That biography was his fave or his own works. I recall (I think!) movie versions of The Prince & the Pauper and Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. He had many life tragedies, but was well-travelled, and used those impressions as a basis for his writing. Born 30 NOV 1835. Thanks for bringing him up. |

Tom Sawyer was nice, but Huck was pure delight! Sorry to say I didn't read more of his works. Tried 'Life on the Mississippi' but lacked the patience at that time. |
