A bit of confusion over who is running the next Mugdots challenge after Chelydra's mild cubist fest. Hopefully, Chlorophilla is not going to feel her toes being stepped on...

In the interest of clearing up confusion and getting a challenge going so Mugdots does not stall out, I'm going ahead and putting the next challenge out there.

The next challenge is the theme of "Echo" ... any take on this. An echo as a sound, an echo as a form repeated, anything that you think "resonates."

I'm tied up most of this week-end into next week. I'll run this through Sunday May 22 and pass the baton then.

Good luck and have fun.

...I'll push/stretch my logic/luck here (hey, you said "have fun"!) ...shadows of the structure echo it, piles of echoed growth rings on the horns, half a facial structure that just begins its own echo... and of course the sounds of the critters themselves ringing off the rocky hills they haunt...

This sounds really cool. I'm already biting my nails about having so much work. Will definitely keep sneaking in here though. (Funny, but after a while watching and understanding becomes even more interesting than actually drawing. )

Brava Five for taking charge and thinking so others can draw. Also for making it run a bit longer.

Q, leave it to you to capture many facets of echo. They're all fair.

Here's an older one of mine I think might fit the criteria.

I'll add this "old" one too. I'm sure this cavernous space could produce a nice "echo". I will get around to drawing something specific for this challenge though hopefully.

That DOES feel cavernous... like looking at a glimpse of sky through an O'Keefe pelvis

Actually thought of an echo. Gordon Heath & Lee Payant had a folksong boite on Rue de l'Abbaye in Paris half a century ago and did a wonderful rendition of this song - with one standing down the cellar stairs to make the echo.

We have some lovely entries -- let's see if we can get some more; the old pics are welcome but won't count to receive the baton.

"Echo" is a term for repeating or mirroring a shape in composition -- the definition that inspired the challenge, but I did not want to make it too narrow or confining. Echo also is
1.
1. Repetition of a sound by reflection of sound waves from a surface.
2. The sound produced in this manner.
2. A repetition or an imitation: a fashion that is an echo of an earlier style.
3. A remnant or vestige: found echoes of past civilizations while examining artifacts in the Middle East.
4. One who imitates another, as in opinions, speech, or dress.
5. A sympathetic response: Their demand for justice found an echo in communities across the nation.
6. A consequence or repercussion: Her resignation had echoes throughout the department.
7. Repetition of certain sounds or syllables in poetry, as in echo verse.
8. Music. Soft repetition of a note or phrase.
9. Electronics. A reflected wave received by a radio or radar.
To repeat (a sound) by the reflection of sound waves from a surface.
2. To repeat or imitate: followers echoing the cries of their leader; events that echoed a previous incident in history.
1. To be repeated by or as if by an echo: The shout echoed off the wall. The speaker's words echoed in her mind.
2. To resound with or as if with an echo; reverberate: rooms echoing with laughter.

and more -- that's just a quick definition I cut and paste.

This is my echo of today.
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=105502

I had in mind to draw two faces very close toghether, one enlighted and refined and another in the background, more shaded and misty, as self and his shadow, or so - but as you well know, sometime the pics have their own life and go where they want, so it came out to be a single face with two different aspect... let me know what do you think!
