Just a short guide describing Dragons for the more discerning TD'er |
||

It is a fact that Dragon's search out precious metals and stones from a very early age, Dragon's then hoard there wealth in obscure and often ruined places not frequented by Humans. A Dragon prefers not to eat people (too many bones) instead cattle and other domesticated livestock are on the menu, horses are a delicacy. This Dragon is very old and has guarded it's hoard for a thousand years, it's sick of the sight of it to be honest. |

Young Dragon's are often seen flying around, looking for livestock, ahem unattended livestock that is, as they prefer not to have to draw attention to their whereabouts. It is often quite cumbersome and embarrassing when the Human creature keeps leaving it's females tied to trees outside of the lair, why not send a nice juicy horse instead. |

The Dragon is a creature born of power, sometimes Dragon's can tap into this power and in turn become powerful sorcerers, able to control the elements at will and divine the past and future. Dragon's embellish their hides with jewels depicting their guilds, rubies encrusting the scales giving a reddened look to the scaly hide. Red usually indicates a powerful sorcerer! |

It is also a good thing to note that older more experienced Dragons like to replace their damaged scales with jewels scavenged from their hoards, some thousand year old Dragons fly through the sky ablaze with jewels of different types making for an exotic and very beautiful scene. It is thought that females of the species are attracted to the myriad colours and if impressed enough actually might not eat the male Dragon, being much larger than the male and more deadly. |

Finally it is thought that the legend of George and the Dragon refers to a Roman Soldier, who might have saved a Nubian princess from a very large Crocodile (Dragon) in Libya which had made it's nest next to the only source of water in the region. The townsfolk 1st offered animal sacrifices which did not drive the beast away, eventually lots were drawn as to whom would be sacrificed and the loser was the princess daughter of the local king, unwilling to lose face she offers herself to the Dragon but is saved by George who comes upon her in his travels. Although there are in fact many interpretations of this legend. St George as he was canonised is the patron saint of more than one country. England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Palestine, Russian and Portugal. |

A small disclaimer for the readers perusal: Please realise that the Dragon lore expressed in this thread is indeed mostly fictional, a product of my vivid and sometimes ludicrous imagination. I hope one day to write fantasy novels, however that said modern theory suggests that anything and everything must ultimately be probable, however improbable sounding; so who knows my Dragon lore I suppose, is as good as any! |

And a quick but grateful acknowledgement to any readers who wish to contribute their own Dragon facts and pictures, which I must point out are beautifully drawn and presented as demonstrated by the impressive list of Dragons provided by Nylecoj and Shanley, it is truly amazing the talent that is displayed on this site and a delight to behold. |

Wizards and Dragons have a long history of antagonism between them, each seeking control over the other, there is no good or evil as both races are equally capable of both, just the thirst for knowledge and power. |
