Sorry if this is really rushed.. but I just wanted to say that I'd LOVE people to use any of my pictures or ideas to do their own interpretation.. or just to do it better..

I've submitted a load of pics that were 'half-cast' (note: NOT 'half-caste') that I just thought were really fun to try, but everyone seems to shy away from playing with the idea.

Please go for it, and if you end up getting into Top 5 or something, I'll be sitting back grinning and feeling like I've had a tiny part of the success !

Thanks marg!

Same here. Any half-baked silliness I've done OR any I've spent real time on... they're totally open to anyone/everyone else to try their hand at interpretation.

Like marg, I'll be sitting here with a bemused grin...

Indeed, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. At least I would feel terribly flattered to have someone try one of mine out. Like the others said, if the new one improves on the original somehow that's rather flattering too.

Dragon, your fingers have written the truth ). Just wanted to add it's very cool of you to make this 'offer' Marg, although I'm on the new creations' side. I must admit that from time to time, making 'a cover of the classics' just to see if there's anything that I can improve (or just playing with ideas )is tempting. Qsilv...I wouldn't dare to touch one of your masterpieces. Don't get me wrong, I love your style, but it's so personal that I find it very hard to copy, never mind to improve. Funny that the two of you posted on this topic, because I liked very much Marg's version of Child of Light and I was very sad to see Marg had deleted it.

First of all, I remember having used Arw's technique once, of course telling her I did so. I was so impressed......by her technique!!!
Secondly, since I've been in this drawing business for less than a year I'm much more in the THINK than in the DRAW as a4e4ak once said.
It's much easier for me to experiment, even to see a technique than to really know how to draw.
I feel the same as marg. In my case... what an honor if A REAL ARTIST could use some "discovery" or "experiment" of mine.

the reason I posted this was because, although I've been on Think Draw over a year now, every so often I discover what I think is a brilliant effect.. so I have a play.. and I'd really love everyone else to have a play.. and maybe create something spectacular where I was just messing about ?

Even if it was one my 'best' pictures, I'm sure loads of you could actually do it better.. but the idea / original remains mine, hence the pleased grin !

.. and ditto Shanley.. the really great artists just have their own medium, really..

P.S. Shanley.. when I tried that copy of 'Child of Light', I made her blue, because I was actually trying to make it sort of non-racial - as in 'any kid' - but I thought it was a really poor attempt, and it didn't add any value to anything, except my education !

What a crazy idea... I personally would be shocked & insulted if someone used my techniques... (FYI: find them in " http://www.thinkdraw.com/howToDraw.php " and the tools & tips forum) Snicker...

As you know, nobody is willing to try my "Eye Of The Tiger" pic...

(For those that don't get it... The above was what we call "joking")

I learn a lot looking at all of the playbacks. I think the goal is to learn a new tool to enhance your own vision. One of the challenges I enjoyed the most was to attempt a copy of someone else's drawing.
