I've done it, I've asked for bugs!

I wrote to Rachel asking for a theme of bugs.

"Bugs! We need bugs: butterflies of all sorts, lady bugs, scarabs, scorpions, centipedes & millipedes, moths, flies, spiders and all sorts of creepy crawly things. Oh, FIRE FLIES!!!!

Maybe even snakes. Oh, definitely snakes, all sorts of snakes and snaky bits!

We’ll need the usual black and white backgrounds of course and some close-up bushes & flowers, perhaps the blue, blue sky, a tree or two close-up for hanging snakes and some countryside or perhaps indoor background photos.

Oh the things we could do with bugs. And I'll promise no one will eat them. Except perhaps matthew or Baldur, maybe even anotherronism, but they're just crazy any way and you really can't stop them doing what they've set their collective minds to.

Oh, please, PLEASE give us bugs."

I can just see all the colors and patterns, the iridescence and translucence, the hairy legs and the wiry antenna! Can’t you just see all the fun we’d have?

ooh, that sounds like fun! Especially shimmering dragonfly wings and colorfully patterned butterfly wings........................ Fly eyes would be fun, and May/June bug side patterns. Ladybug pattern...horsefly shimmer.......spider backs........
I want, I WANT!

ooh if there is gonna be bugs and snakes, there should be frogs, regular green frogs, bright poisonous frogs, maybe a horny toad. just a thought. and BTW I like this idea, it's got all sorts of possibilities!!

This is a neat idea for a Theme. It would really offer so much opportunity for colour and texture. I hope Rachel takes you up on this one. If there's a vote- I'm in.

Baldur

Solosater, Baldur is a vegetarian, and bugs are definitely not part of my diet.
Even beforehand I considered shrimp, crab and lobster to be aquatic bugs and wouldn't eat them
But I'll gladly cook bugs for matthew; quiche Lorraine avec Vere de Terre?

So sorry Baldur, I forgot that little tidbit.

The quiche is a great idea but the texture might be a little off, I don't think I've ever had a crunchy quiche.

Yes, these are very nice but I was asking Rachel for Bugs as a Theme not a challenge or a showcase. I mean like we have Animals, Flowers, Avatars etc, etc…

We have all seen some beautiful pieces with bugs as the subject, look at
Dragon’s “Dragonfly and branches”
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=49085

or palmasbob’s “Bugs”
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=5023

or nancylee’s “Insects”
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=17937

I even recently did a drawing with a butterfly in it, “Dog and Butterfly – HEART”
http://www.thinkdraw.com/picture.php?pictureId=49072

But just imagine what we could all do with the real thing!

I hate mosquitoes, but I can poke fun at them.

Did you know they are attracted to blonds? I know this as I am a blond and they just love me, did some research and sure enough Blonds are more popular with the mosquitoes.

Also if you put white vinegar on before you go out you will taste bad to them and they will not bite you, and I promise if it dries (I say if because some of you live in very humid places) you won’t smell like a salad . It works for me.

Also if you do have a mosquito bite white vinegar topically will make it stop itching.
