Still life, sculpture and fire sound promising too. But I would vote against just plain "celebrities" — a subject like Drama, Music (maybe limited to jazz or classical or the blues), or whatever, would allow for portraits of stars, but at least they'd be stars who've earned their stardom.
Other thoughts: War & Peace... Or maybe try some really humble homey subject like The Kitchen Sink...or Washing on the Line...

further thoughts... people get off on villains and evil in general - The Antihero might be too limiting, but a subject called The Dark Side would allow for everything from the shadows, to the dark side of the moon, to Satan himself... and monsters & nightmares are always good fun...

Thank you so much for the sculpture showcase. I think there have been some amazing creations so far.

I see the showcase is not yet set. What about a "travel" showcase? It would fit well with the Holydays, and met also the wish of Robyntalks' suggestion - transport.

I like also celebrities, it could lead to many good portraits.

Sorry the current 'Computer' showcase may not be so inspiring. It will be followed by two short showcases - for Halloween and Bonfire night.

After that it's all up to you again . . .

What about "Reflections"?

It would be fun seeing that.

about computer: I have few time for drawing, but anyway I thought so many possibilities. In ezample, there are all the great people who made the difference in the computer developing. A great chance for interesting portraits! Here it is an useful link: http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/general/278242/top-10-most-important-people-in-the-history-of-c omputers/4

another possibility is science fiction. from cyborgs to famous computers, as HAL or many others.

c'm on, let's drawing!

wait... what? This computer showcase has my own head in a whirl... there are soooo many possibilities!

Absolutely the fabulous people who have contributed to its growth, not just as an industry but also as a science... from Jacquard looms to Tim Berners-Lee (where would we be without Hyper-Links??) and beyond...

The inner workings, from abstracted (think Tron!) to realistic/semi-realistic sci-fi-ish (did you know there was a quite rational attempt at working with 3 states instead of dual polarity?)

The politics! Yegods, people... this is up there with philosophy, religion, and world-wide economy for the far ranging effects it has on our lives and our future... Electronic Frontier Foundation... Free Speech... empowerment of common people throughout the world through their increasing ability to communicate instantaneously...

and the use of computers in --
medicine... had an MRI lately?
transport... driving your car at 20 to 40 mpg (vs 10 to 15 with a carburetor)?
home... use a cell phone? (even land-lines... how do you think the phone company manages those?!) get crushed ice from your fridge door? wash/rinse/spin clothes in a machine vs the tub?

...y'know what? It's been less than 2 generations and we're already taking this stuff for granted... who around here is even thinking it has anything to do with "computer" technology...

ok ok ok... rant over............. *sigh*

Oh my! Q, you make me feel in need of an year on this showcase!!! I'm already mourning about all the lost pics I'll never draw on this!

I love the "reflection" idea!

Reflections was good first time around, so it would be great to see it again..

..but.. [smothering a snicker of delight] ..I like Qsilv's indirect suggestion of 'Medicine' ..

.. preferably avoiding the '..inner workings, from abstracted .. to realistic'

:)

...spluttering laughter (not good for keyboards)

I could get into a LOT of trouble with a theme of Medicine; let's do Reflections!

Actually, the world of Medicine could be wonderfully colorful...

ThinkDraw

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions...

We have added 'Reflections' as the new showcase. Here is a link to the old 'Mirror images' showcase as there are some wonderful pictures there:

http://www.thinkdraw.com/showcase.php?showcase=mirrorImages

Should we have a short 'Thanksgiving' showcase after, or skip straight to 'Medicine'?

Thanks again!

Thank you for picking my topic! This should be fun! But, is it possible to say "subject suggested by brigsis"? I don't mind that it doesn't but if it could say that it would be great!
