Thanks for the Nursery Rhymes link, puzzler. I agree that a showcase should not be called English Nursery Rhymes ... no need to offend the rest of Britain or any other nations for that matter ... some of them could have been translated from other languages but I've yet to find out.

So, thanks to lalitha...

Nursery Rhymes: 27th November 2009 - 10th December 2009

Then, by popular request, it is the returning seasonal showcase...

Christmas Holidays: 11th December 2009 - 31st December 2009

For the new year, based on matthews idea of 'Birth' but slightly wider...

Beginnings: 1st Janurary 2010 - 15th January 2010

Expect to see Dragon's 'Home Town' and puzzler's 'Plants' soon. a4e4ka idea of greeting cards is also one for the future, perhaps with the possible option of printing real cards from these Think Draw pictures.

Thanks to all and please keep the suggestions coming.

I Like the idea of famous people.

famous people would be good - if we can include abstracts ? (and maybe 8 year olds that discuss business logos and idioms ??)

...*BOGGLE* ...printable greeting cards.... YESSSSS!

All the others sound fun too, and I really like knowing what they'll be ahead of time. Thanks, Rachel!

As for the 8 yr olds, never underestimate 'em. At T-day dinner, one of our family's 6 yr olds used the word "venture" (and repeated it patiently when we were so startled we thought we'd mis-heard at first), and a 3 yr old spent a full half hour on her elbows, listening to her 7 yr old cousin explaining chess...

Who knows what's going on in the minds of the babies watching their moms' bright computers and reaching for the keyboards from those comforting laps.

Just wanted to point out that in the current showcase of Nursery Rhymes, some people are mistakenly doing lovely pics of Fairy tales. There is a difference between the two, namely the word Rhyme, which implies what it says, or a rhythym. Those in search of a subject could try this link:

Thanks, puzzler. That's an excellent site for Nursery Rhymes ... loads of material there and good explanations of origin.

nod... nice one...
and another (award-winning) site shows that whole book, The Real Mother Goose, with the lovely illustrations of Blanche Fisher Wright.

Click on the cover and you can view it as just a handful of sections...
or choose to see all the rhymes on one single page (without the illustrations, so that page loads fast)
