Heya all..

I thought it might be really fun to have a showcase called 'Uruguay' .. mainly because most of us only know about it from geography lessons at school, so it would be fun to find out a bit more about it !

This would, of course, give polenta an enormous advantage, but I think that would be great, because she's been such an inspiration to so many of us.

I also like the 'Country' suggestion.. so this is just another idea.

ugh... I'd think that a theme sooo specific would probably exclude a LOT of TDers from participating, don't you?
Africa, for example, most people at least have a general IDEA of what's there, but URUGUAY? No offense to the country, but I, for one, couldn't think of a SINGLe thing relating LOL.

which creates a sudden strong urge to google it!

<---loves the 'net ...such a handy and wonderfully rich resource pool. All we need is the lightest nudge to fall into it...

come back, Qsilv, that way danger lies....

oh, OK.. you said 'nudge', not 'fudge'..

Uruguay? Ugh. I like a challenge, but come on! I kinda got away from the showcase extravaganza. Only certain piks get in the upper echelon and the others get voted down. So whats the sense. Plus this time a lot of suggestions went out and it came up "breakfast" suggested by noone. Not my site, so not my choice. just a few thoughts. i'll go back to creating and rating.

lol - hey, kids, why shouldn't Rachel get to create a category of her own choice now'n'then?!
Yes, even if she isn't submitting drawings currently.
(Tho' personally I'd love to see new drawings from her!)

Q (hiding the fudge --and masking the guilty look fairly well)

Rachel still submits pictures under the name 'matthew'.

I am ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHED at the Uruguay suggestion. Flattered yes, but incredibly surprised. ... but I'm going to tell you something.... Look at the atlas and when you see an arrow pointing to PARADISE.... it's Uruguay.
LOL LOL LOL Joking but I love it.... it's a nice, quiet, very human-like place to live in. Thank you for even having thought of having this topic.

I remember a quote . I'm not sure if it's common in English as it is in Spanish. It says: DESCRIBE YOUR VILLAGE AND YOU WILL DESCRIBE THE WORLD.
There is another quotation. Help me with the words in English. I think it was a Greek philosopher: NOTHING HUMAN IS STRANGE TO ME.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't be so afraid to describe Uruguay. We have a heart .... we love, we hate, we envy, we pity like anyone else and we belong to Western civilization. When we study our past in history we begin with Egypt, Mesopotamia, the Hebrews, the Greeks, the Romans, the Middles Ages, the Renaissance, the French Revolution.... up to now. This is what we consider we come from, this is our heritage.

No offense, Uruguay is probably a beautiful country, at least from I've seen from Polenta, if a country is as lovely as she, then it would be nice. However, as suggested, it would cause many limitations. Why not have a "whatever country", meaning a mixture of countries. Pay honors to as many as can be submitted. Would that work? We have many countries represented on TD and in fairness I think it might a nice tribute and give everyone a wide-range to choose from. Thanks.

Thank you Kmkagle. I would never suggest Uruguay. I know it's not a well-known place.... I also thank Marg for suggesting it. I'll accept whatever topic is chosen. This is something I've always done.
Here goes a joke: Uruguay is so badly- known and it's down there in one forgotten corner of the world that when the final Nuclear War comes we will be spared because nobody will remember we exist!!!!!LOL LOL LOL LOL

As most of us seem to lack knowledge of Uraguay, why not make it a Community Challenge, lasting say one week? We can easily find something Uraguayan on google, to draw and we can broaden our knowledge while we play.

Very sorry, I've posted this to the wrong thread. I have asked TD to move it for me. I have also made a second blunder by posting The Otter for animals, instead of Tutankhamun.
I put it down to my senility (10 points).

This is interesting ... two different artistic interpretations of the same picture. I suppose that is what art is all about.
