Thanks for the commiseration.

I'll probably stop through periodically to check out other people's drawings, but I am done with my own here. I would rather spend time on drawings I know will be retained if I want to retain them; so, back to the privacy of my own computer and paper/pen/etc.

The one thing I think should work on the site is the ability to retain the drawings. Having a "save draft" function that loses the drawing when one tries to submit it is pointless. I wish I had realized how pointless before thinking the last version of the drawing would be there if the drawing was lost in submission, which seems to happen from time to time when the computer "hangs", "freezes" or automatically "redirects" to the index page, if too many others are navigating the site at once or the browser has a fit. The site may be free of charge, but time spent on drawings is a cost. Either fix the "save draft" feature or get rid of it all together so no one is fooled into thinking that the drawing will be saved. Alternatively, enable the drawing to sit in the create window such that "refreshing" the page maintains the drawing if it does not go through in submission. When TD had submission problems a few weeks ago, one could recover the lost drawing in their browser by going to one's history and finding "think draw - save"; that's no longer the case.

TD is different from other drawing/painting sites, because it is really a collaging site. This is what made it fun.

Five, I will certainly miss your drawings! They are very unique! I do hope you will stop in, say hello, and maybe sport us with one of your beautiful works!!

Marg, I need to add, it was the "Marshmallow" bunny drawing for you that went! A psychiatrist would ask me, "why in the **** would you sit up at 2:30 in the morning drawing pink bunnies?" I'd have to say "well, there was another one and I lost it", he'd say "you certainly did!" Do you think. You must always remember that bunny!

KM.. and five.. I wholly and totally retract what I said earlier...

.. it's now 3:11 a.m. my time, and I just spent over 2 hours doing a reply to KM's pink bunny picture.. which I then tried to submit (about 30 minutes ago).. and have apparently lost everything.. and I never saved it, so that wasn't an issue.. it just sat there with 'submitting, please wait a minute' (or whatever the message is) and is still blank.

No, it wasn't a masterpiece and the world, as such, won't miss it.. but I do, and I sat outside a few minutes ago, KM, and I thought.. that's what hurts.. the fact that the person I did it for will never see it !

So yes.. I'll always remember your pink bunny.. and my funny dancing lady (I could NOT do a bunny the way you did - and boy, did I try !).

I'm with you guys all the way.. perhaps someone can let us know when they sort out the rating, the save draft, the submit... and everything else !

I will have to use my imagination marg. Maybe you'll get time to do it again.

If you go to another drawing site can you tell us where so we can still see your work?

I hear what you are saying very clearly and have also considered, going away. I had to take time to question why I was doing this at all. It has got me back to painting and drawing for real, which is good . It has taught me either draw for the pleasure of the drawing, without need of continuous reward, or leave it alone, which is good. It has opened my eyes to a very creative and widespread group of pretty fine folks, which is good. so I am still at it, and have to say it's better than solitaire, and better than most things on TV. I get a creative break from my job and other worries that abound daily. I hope your decision is a positive one in your life . You will be sorely missed. Of course, please come on back if you feel something missing. I so much have enjoyed your creative endeavors , they always inspire me to try something new or different.

Gwinnyb, I totally relate to what you wrote. I starting playing this because I put my spider solitaire in the recycle bin, and needed to fill the hole. TD with its creative outlet is better for me, but I need to get out of my chair and start doing more. I have thought about taking out my real brushes and paints, and actually painting something I can hang up. I need to get back to sewing and gardening and all the other creative things we do to fill up our lives.
It just so happens I have had a hiatus from work these past 2 weeks, and things start up again on Monday. I will be checking in, but not able to spend the amount of time I have been lately.
This can become an obession quite quickly, and is a great site with some incredibly creative people. Their creativity is an inspiration, and I will be checking them out from time to time. Take care.

Take care, all of you who are taking a break. We always look forward to people coming back, if only for brief periods at a time ... so looking forward to your next drawings, somewhen.

Probably not me then..

.. there's nothing like some sleep and a good shake of the head to get over feeling totally p***** off at losing a picture !

With any luck, the others will do the same and we'll all continue doing something we actually enjoy - drawing, that is, not griping !

I've got a problem with loading a draft in flowers. I've spent over five hours on it (don't be fooled - that doesn't mean it's anywhere near as good as you guy's work) and this is the third time round.....my first two attempts were lost.

I've refreshed, closed and re-opened and re-booted the computer, but all to no avail. Being a newbie, is this a common problem with TD and is there a way I can get my draft loaded to complete it????

........off to get more chocolate in an attempt to solve my suppressed frustration.........

The only thing I can suggest is that adjustments/changes are going on at TD ... and I'm guessing at that. You seem to have done just about everything that you can do ... I know several people have lost drawings using the save draft, just lately ... very frustrating ... but TD are very good at fixing things and I would be surprised if they aren't working on it right now. In the meantime, I would suggest you avoiding using the save draft. I hope you eventually recover your drawing. Good luck.

DMarcella, I sometimes draw on Saatchi's Your Studio, under the user name Dee (fifth)... It's a rudimentary painting program, and there is no place for feedback. It also started losing pictures on submission (though one could open a new browser window and get the drawing back most of the time), so I draw much less there, too. Dropped/lost pictures may be a problem all these kinds of online sites have. It was my mistake to spend more than twenty or so minutes on a TD drawing, since for me that moved past doodling and into a real investment in the outcome of the drawing. Here's the link for Your Studio:

Best to all on their drawings.

That Saatchi Gallery looks like a neat one, played a little with it. Kind of like a more interesting version of paint brush. I think I'll need some practice with it before I get good.
Thanx for posting the site.

Happy to pass on the site. There's also http://queeky.com/draw which includes the ability to use vectors and shapes.

five, will miss your work here! But, already have checked the other sites, and wow, very different! Its more like painting and drawing. Not so much a puzzle. Thanks!

here's another site I just found. Again, no place for ratings and comments that I could see, but certainly gives a creative outlet. http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/ Another place I like is www.popularfront.com/snowdays . It is really fun to just create snowflakes and has a place for responses. Again, much different than Thinkdraw, though.

Five, I looked at many of your drawing on the other site and they are great. I will look at them all in time. Thanks for sharing the site with us.
