That's what my guitar teacher would have told me to say. "Not yet". (And my dance teacher would have told me to say "At the present point in time I am unable to do it.")

Wow - what a portrait in words you've just painted of those teachers!

fwiw, I've played the guitar for years. Unfortunately I've also NOT played it for years at a stretch. So whenever I pick it up again, it takes hours before my fingers begin remembering their placement, and days before the old musical patterns resurface. They do it gradually, always in the same order.

I've drawn all my life too --and am constantly amazed at how different the experience is. Even if I stop for a while, when I pick it up again NONE of it has gone away.

That said, each time I get into a heavy series of drawing (as in here!), my work as a whole does improve.

Qsilv - your work is beautiful. I think artists, be it musician or drawing, never forget, it all comes back. Yes, sometimes better than before.

Yea, sometimes over the summer I neglect practicing my guitar (or cello). It's sure is frustrating when I come back!
