I'm not sure if this was ever brought up--because I pop in and out and don't have the patience to sort through the forums--but I think it would be really cool if there was a way to order prints of our work on thinkdraw. However, I think they should be at-cost prints, and I also think the artist should have the option to make them available.

What do you guys think?

I really like the idea of prints, of any TDers work. Haven't thought beyond that, about cost and copyright...

It's a great idea, but mostly the pictures are too small to print.

We can make higher resolution files of pictures in some of the themes: Beads, Avatars, Lunartics, Space and Valentines. If you would like these files for any of your pictures, just send a message.

Finally, you can also have a look at any of your pictures in those themes as prints, posters, cards, t-shirts or just about anything else you can think of.

Just use this form: http://www.thinkdraw.com/shopFeedback.php to let us know what you want...

Thank you TD!

A yearly "book of pictures" I would pay for - not sure of what this would take. Additionally, a PinInterest link to our individual profile would be amazing.

Rachel,

You did not answer Lizzi's question about copyright.

I would be interested in this as when I asked for my "Butterfingers" picture to be put on a mug for my sister, I found out after the fact, that it is out there for anyone to purchase. Even though I have turned off tracking on my browser, I keep getting advertising from CafePress showing my artwork on a cup along with anything else that I have looked at. Also if you Google "Butterfingers mug", it comes up for sale.

Am I correct in assuming that ANYONE can purchase a mug (or other items) with my artwork on it now that it has been submitted?

Thank you.

Rachel,

"Let us know if you have a picture in one of these themes that you would like to see on a poster, card or any other product. You have no obligation to buy the product which will be available for purchase in the Think Draw shop."

Ouch, I just read this on the submitting form. Guess it answers my question as to ANYONE can purchase. I think I did understand that ThinkDraw members could purchase but did not even consider that EVERYONE could purchase. Hmmmm. Was thinking about doing a calendar...will have to ponder that one.

Katidid,

I do appreciate your concerns. If you would like me to remove the mug from the store, please let me know. We will also look into making the fact that the products with TD artwork are available publicly clearer.

The reason you are seeing adverts for your mug is a type of advertising called Behavioral Targeting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behavioral_targeting With Google Ads if you click the 'Ad Choices' triangle next to them, you can configure your settings so you don't get these kinds of ads from sites you have visited previously.

Thanks, Rachel

Thank you Rachel. I will ask my sister if she wants the mug out there as it is a caricature of her when she was "clowning".

Just like there is a check box for showcase, there should be a copywrite checkbox - meaning it can be shown here, but would need specific artist permission for other reproduction for mugs, t-shirts etc. I know I have been informed several times that my work has been shown on Facebook and Sudoku site. Thank goodness I have not used my real name, but honestly it has inhibited me from using my real website link on my page. Never when I started drawing here was there disclosure about the artwork being used in other places. Have to admit I was not happy about it when I first learned. I want the site to succeed, but there needs to be a clearer intro page so there are not such surprises.

Is the idea that if we order something that we lose rights and then make it pubic to all? So much for Christmas presents this year. Isn't there a way to have a minimum order that would cover costs, but allow the artist not to have to make it part of the public sales gallery?

There are so many ways this will change how I draw from now on. No more humor, no pictures that take me over an hour without a copyright signature.

So I just read the US copy write site. Because all the drawings here are dated, and attributed to a specific person - all their drawings could be seen as an ongoing "collection". So the protection of copy write for a collection binds as a whole the resell without permission - this would include gaining monetary benefit, such as advertising. As of the 1980's it is not longer required for a copy write mark to be used. I however have marked my art that I would want to give permission for with "©2014 kg". All others I give full permission for Thinkdraw to use for advertising, or resale as long as the work is attributed to Fangzzz.
