Hazer

Is this feature working for anyone else? I can enter a topic but have no search button.

2. 19 Jun 2012 14:30

Baldur

When in Gallery, I can type in a topic (birds), and I don't have a search button, but push enter and it works.

In My Picture Gallery I have a search button that works.

I tried searching another artist and hitting Enter....it took me back to the old gallery, but the sought after artist was nowhere in sight!

Wait a minute...the old gallery has the required tools for doing searches. It just doesn't work in the new gallery. Hazer is a Luddite, too!!

Hey,

Thanks for pointing this out. It seems that the search in the new gallery does not work in Internet Explorer. We should have tested this, and will try and find a way to fix it asap.

Thanks again.

Hi Hazer,

This should be working in IE now. If you get a chance to test it, please let us know if it works for you...

Thanks,

TD

Yes, it works. Thank you yet again, TD.

Hmmm.....Not only does it still not work in the new gallery, I've now lost the ability to switch over to the old gallery as well.

Hi Hazer, we didn't change the old gallery so I'm not sure what problem you are having. The link is here:

http://www.thinkdraw.com/gallery.php

Could you please let me know what version of IE you are using and what is happening when you try to search.

Thanks!

This is a bit confusing. When I follow your link the old gallery appears with all the search buttons in tact. When I go to the new gallery there is a space to enter a search word only, with another option to search for pictures of users I follow at the bottom of the page. Those are the only options from the new gallery. I thought that all the search options from the old gallery would be available in the new gallery as well. Perhaps my system is too old. It is Windows XP and the browser I use is Mozilla Firefox.
When the new gallery is displayed, there is no option to go to the old gallery.

Gallery searching can become a real voyage of discovery, once you notice what clicking on various options can reveal.
Selecting ""my gallery" or all pictures by" anyone else opens a page with an "all pictures" option at the top left.
You can then select the all-time most-favorited flowers pictures, for instance. It's a quick, easy way to get an overview of all the oldies-but-goodies.
At the bottom of the gallery, you can jump around in the back pages, and find dozens of interesting pictures that attracted fewer stars and faves. There's a lot of excellent work by people who haven't attracted much notice — probably because they don't socialize much (by following others, leaving comments, or joining forum discussions, perhaps due to language barriers).
When you come across an interesting individual artist, you should always quickly skim their back pages. If they have hundreds of pictures, select "top rated" and "all time" and then go through all the themes one by one -- which can take a grand total of about 15 seconds, if you don't see anything that pulls you in, or it can take forever if you get captivated. Even when the stars and faves don't amount to much. a full page of someone's work in a particular theme may add up to a gorgeous body of work. Just leave a comment on one saying so - it's a lot more efficient than navigating back and forth trying to put stars on dozens of old pictures (which can be enjoyable for you and the recipeient but eats up hours of time).

puzzler

I have exactly the same problem that Hazer described. Only the one space appears at the top, with 'Search the gallery.' No other boxes appear. When I followed your link, they are all there. I have Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7.

I can do the searches in a round about way. I miss having all the search buttons available.

I've the same problem (and same arrangment of puzzler), but don't mind because I usually access to the old gallery and the researches from my own gallery, just one click needed
