Several of my Animal pictures in the pass have been drawn with my youngest daughter while we researching about endangered animals. So I would like to make this idea a challenge where we all can learn also.

You can use any theme you would like to display your pictures of any Endangered species from around the world. Please make a note when submitting the picture or pictures of what country or area of the world the animal is from and reason why it is endanger, or you can add a link to that information.

The Baton will be only for new picture, but please post any old pictures that you have done on this subject.

This will end on Nov. 12th, 2011

Emmy and I will pick a new baton holder on Nov.13th

Thanks and I hope you enjoy this challenge

Malayan Tapir, lives in rainforests in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and Sumatra. The Malayan Tapir is endangered because of the loss of habitat. People cut down forests for timber and agricultural use, and the tapir cannot hide from poachers.

The governments of Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia have passed laws to ban people from hurting them.

Habitat: Central America to Columbia. As a result of habitat loss, hunting and capture for the pet trade, the Geoffrey's Spider Monkey is considered endangered.

Black Panthers have a very big range of habitat. They are located throughout Asia, Africa, and Central and South America. Black leopards are mostly seen in the hot, dense tropical rainforest of South and Southeast Asia, especially in southwestern China, Burma, Nepal, southern India, Java, and the southern part of Malaysia.

Although they can adapt well to different environments and habitats, they are in danger. Their population is shrinking along with their habitats. Black panthers, like all members of the big cat family, have no greater enemy in nature than human beings. Farmers have killed them with poison and traps to protect livestock or people. Hunters have killed them for adventure and for their beautiful and precious furs. Environmental contamination such as mercury and other chemicals is also a cause of death of wild animals including black panthers.

Sorry for the delay, my father had a visit to the ER over the weekend so that tied me up. He is home now after many test, seems to have had a mini stroke, and they are working on adjusting his meds.

All the entries were WONDERFUL! Emmy and I decided to pass the baton onto lesley_gene for his Geoffrey's Spider Monkey. Congrats to all for such beautiful work.
