I would quite like an option to be allowed to upload a photograph of myself to my profile page. Does anyone else want to see this happen?

Well lets just say I look nothing like Charlie Chaplin

4. 30 Sep 2011 05:39

marg

ohh..

does that mean that matthew may not look quite like his profile picture ?

.. or was that actually Baldur ?

marg

really sorry - my comment should have been made in the Community forum, as it has nothing to do with TD - just got misled by matthew

Baldur

I look much more like my current profile picture than my previous one. It would be a hoot if matthew and I were identical twins separated at birth.

I better would see a self-portrait... more in TD style. I think that a link to Facebook or similar could allow to see a picture of self if the artist would like it. It would be nice anyway to see how our TD friends look...

I quite like the way I've imagined you all to look

Totally agree with clorofilia on this one. The beauty of this kind of socializing is that we know very little (actually nothing) about each other besides what we choose to share. If some people use their own photos, will we start to assume others are too ugly to show their faces? The absence of photography is a precious rare thing that must be defended - look at what happened to the Wall Street Journal and The New Yorker magazine after they caved in! And once they become profile pix, what next? It wouldn't stop there. People would start wanting to show off their camera/photoshop creations and the next thing you know thinkdraw will look like the rest of the world.

Hey.. quite a lot of people have put links on their profile page to a personal website, or whatever, that allows people to see their 'real' picture..
.. can't we stick with this, as my imagination tells me what everyone looks like, based on their pictures and comments, and I don't really want anyone to change that ?
- just as an example, I know Steve has a flying monkey tat, but I REALLY don't want to see a picture of it

I thought it was Baldur who had the flying monkey tattoo ... have I had another senior moment! Anyway, I agree with those who want to keep things the way they are now.

Sorry Steve - have to agree with everyone else - photo portraits not a good idea here - but make a TD self-portrait by all means. You can see photos on all sorts of other places like Facebook, I presume, but this site is unique in being a forum for as much self-expression as one wishes in both artistic ways and via the forums. Added to which, it is great to use one's imagination about other members.

Flying monkey Tat? Ha ha no tats sorry, I usually say to people, "Do you remember the movie 'Planes, Trains & Auto-mobiles' with Steve Martin and John Candy...Well Steve Martin is my name but I look more like John Candy. That generally works, failing that my facebook link is on my profile, then you can all marvel at the handsome, talented and generously proportioned male depicted there, I'm the bloke stood next to him. Boom Boom!

15. 3 Oct 2011 14:30

Baldur

The confusion over the flying monkey tattoo is because my name is actually Steve in that other world.
marg knows that.
I indeed have such a tattoo on my back.

OK Ladies and Gentlemen you have converted me, I no longer request a photographic profile, but the banter was fun, so I am glad I raised the request.

19. 4 Oct 2011 04:12

Baldur

But you should also get a flying monkey tattoo now.
