It's nothing sinister guys. We had a technical problem that for a few days allowed new users to rate a picture more than once. We have stopped this happening now and tried to fix the ratings accordingly.

Top 5 for Jan should be out soon with correct ratings, and we are hoping to add a Top 10 for last year in the next couple of weeks.

TD, how thankful are we?
After dealing with all the bills from companies of utilities, TVs, telephones, insurances, mortgages, etc., you, TD, are the one who reacts to the users' voice promptly.
And don't forget folks, this is the free site of charge!
The world would be so much easier if every companies who consume for profits respond to what consumers need like TD does, I think.

TD, I have noticed one more issue. The GuessTheArtistGame account is also used to rate and favorite pictures. This is a ''general account' to call it so. It has been created a while ago by TD-ers with the purpose of playing a game. It was never intended to be used for adding votes because, as I mentioned, it was a shared account, therefore it would have led to the 'duplicate vote' issue. Is there any way to restrict the rights over this account? To have the rating options removed by any chance?
Thank you for you efforts of maintaining a fair-play rating system.

I'm a little dissapointed but a lot confussed on Top 5 in beads. My picture Hot to Trot has 35 votes, 3 favorites, and 23 comments but didn't make the cut. Just respectfully wondering how that can be. I love this site and don't want to cause hard feelings just want to understand the process.

if you go to Gallery. You can see boxes at top that will let you sort by beads top rating last month or beads favorites last month. You can see how many ratings and favorites the top 5 beads pics for last month received. Hope that helps.

Gair, I don't know the formula used for picking the Top5 either, but I know that favorites count a lot. It is not unusual for picture with more favorites and less ratings to get picked. So I can only imagine favorites have a higher weight.

From what I can tell, it is simple... 1 vote = 1 point... ... ... 1 favorite = 1 point

If you look at all of the top 5 in beads, and add the votes + favorites together, they all have more points than your pic (35 votes + 3 favorites = 38 points)

So you can fluff your votes, but you can not fluff your favorites without being noticed because we can see who favorites a pic... like a (guess the artist) favorited pic...

I figured it isn't weighted because there was a beads pic with 26 votes + 9 favorites (35) and the 9 favorites were not strong enough to pass a pic with 30 votes + 8 favorites (38) ...

but now that I think about it, if favorites are with 2 points it still wouldn't ppass it... 26+18 (44) doesn't beat 30 + 16 (46). So it could be weighted... I may look deeper for you one day, but I don't really care..

Matthew, I had spotted to different issues (eventhough I did not point any fingers for the first issue). The first one has been fixed. I did not check the second one (the GuessTheArtistGame rights account).
I know there have been some requests in the past about making the Top5 system transparent, but some TD-ers preferred to not know it for not spoiling the fun.
