Sad News

Hi folks, just letting you all know that TD has lost one of its more colorful and funny members, giraffe.

On April 2, I received the following email from his daughter: “I apologize for the group email. I found your addresses in my dad's contacts. Sadly, I'm writing to let you know that he passed away on March 20.”

Giraffe’s real name was Ron Metzger. His daughter’s name is Emelia. I am going to give her the link to this thread so she can check in should folks wish to leave condolences.

The memorial is this Saturday, April 9th, at the Mercury Café in Denver from 11-2.

If anyone would like to post this notice on the ThinkWrites site, please feel free to do so. I checked over there and it seems giraffe was as prolific as ever, kept having fun with writing and with all of you.

Thanks for passing on the news, sad as it is. He was feisty individual ... can't help feeling there were a few hidden health messages in his drawings. Condolences to his family.

Thanks everyone. It is a very sad time for our family. Can anyone tell me how to view all of his drawings? I think I have his password somewhere, but is there a way to search? Daughter Giraffe...?

I hope one of these links works for you...

http://www.thinkdraw.com/profile.php?user=giraffe (should go to his profile)

http://www.thinkdraw.com/gallery.php?other=giraffe&by=oth (should show his drawings).

If these do not work, click "gallery" button at the top, enter in search "giraffe," and you will be asked if you mean pictures by giraffe. Click and it should take you to his drawings all on one page.

Again, condolences. I hope you find comfort in his drawings.

giraffe will definitly be missed here and on Think Write. I always felt like he really got a lot of enjoyment out of writing and (I hope) out of the community here and on TW. My thoughts go out to his family.

Dear emnidel, I've just had it pointed out to me that 'feisty' has two definitions. I used the word to mean full of animation, energy, spirited.
His writings in THink Draw Forum and in Thinkwrites are strong, purposeful and articulate.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Login, I knew what you meant and do appreciate your expansion on the comment. He really was special, very talented and genius. I think I saw what you noticed in some of his drawings. He left quite a lot of creative work behind. I miss him very much already.

I already posted comments over on ThinkWrite, but it is nice to see the wonderful comments about Giraffe. He wasn't always the easiest person to get along with, but what is wrong with that. He was colorful, a prolific writer, and I thought of him as a friend on both sites. I will miss him...
