Sadly there is no 'Tim Horton' donut shop nearby to celebrate his birthday at. We did have several in Southern New England until about a year ago.
They didn't survive the competition from Dunkin Donuts which locally is considered the epitome of donutdom

Unfortunately I can't celebrate his birthday today, too much freezing rain
and nasty weather but I will be out tomorrow for my "Timmies". :]

Even the fabled Krispy-Kreme donut did poorly in its foray into the New England donut market.
The Rhode Island locations did not last very long at all

Baldur rarely buys donuts, and buy rarely I mean that I did not buy any in 2011 and cannot be sure of 2010 either.
There are just other things I prefer in high-calorie items.
Ice Cream for example.

Today is baking day at Boughbreak. A fine pumpkin pie just came out of the oven.
There was plenty of scrap pie dough to also make a secondary item.
In this case a rustic apple and pecan tart.
I knew those old apples in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator would come in handy.

This remains' the Winter that Wasn't' at Boughbreak.
There is no snow on the ground, we are consistently having days well above freezing. It seems rather odd.

I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky that the Spring bulbs haven't come up yet. They are not due for 2 more months.
Probably the only thing stopping them is that they haven't had a long enough rest period.

Well, here's some snow for you and someone certainly seems to be enjoying it!

Loved that Marius!

I totally missed Tim Horton's birthday yesterday. With how incredibly popular Timmies is up here I'm surprised it wasn't a national holiday. We Canadians take our Timmies very seriously. Krispy Creme tried to make a go of it up here too and I believe every one of them (and there were quite a few) were closed down within a few months of opening. It seems to me that Tim Horton's is much more of a coffee shop that happens to carry lots of donuts rather than a donut shop. I would say its biggest competition is Starbucks.
