Wishing you a wonderful time, Baldur. Hope the traveling is smooth and easy, that the people you meet are cordial and intersting, and that your grandson is a joy that grows more lovely in your heart with each and every day.

And ... big CONGRATULATIONS to dear Dragon and her sweetie who are tying the knot in Mexico today! Hope the weather and everything is perfect for them! Can't wait to hear all about it when she returns.

There is no truth to the rumour that Baldur is actually attending Dragon's wedding.

Also, I want to know what people think of putting bells on kitties so they can't sneak up on little creatures. I have had it with finding beautiful dead birds in my yard or house, but have hesitated to put anything around kitties necks for fear of them getting caught somewhere. I am not always around to watch them. If you have used bells and know where I can get some, please let me know. I know it will be a while before we hear from Dragon (I know she is having so much fun!). Thanks.

I've seen cat collars with bells and a section of elastic. The theory is that if the cat gets hooked up somewhere, the elastic stretches enough for the collar to slip over the head.

That is what I was thinking Login. I see "breakaway" collars online and am assuming they perform the same way. Any experiences with either of these?

Thanks for that interesting handwritten link, mcdrawn!
The question of belling the cat~I have used bells and breakaway collars, to no avail. There is some hope, though. As kitties age they become a little less avid for hunting. Most of them. I know that doesn't help you right now. Cats are so graceful, they can usually learn to stalk without disturbing their bell. I wonder what would happen if you put more than one bell on the collar.
Didja know that in the cities there are collectors who go out early in the a.m. to pick up all the dead bodies of the birds that have flown into the glass of highrises overnight? Hundreds of dead bodies. And then there are these people who think cats should be locked up so they can't kill birds! Where is the justice? My cats actually have caught far more mice than birds. Nobody cares about the mice. If the cat brings me live prey, I hide it in my pocket and release it when Kitty isn't looking. Several times I have saved a bird by placing it under a plant in a hanging pot. Gives it a chance to R&R before flying away home, if it is not too badly injured.

I use breakaways & they work fine... but I train my cats with them from kittenhood. You may find some cats to be quite resistent & fight with them enough to get them off themselves, but I haven't see that to be the case.
