Baldur

Baldur has determined that the Cat in the Hat lives here at Boughbreak.
Indeed I have never seen him, but surely he is here.
Robert washes the dinner dishes each evening, and I had assumed he put the pots and pans away in the cupboard. Maybe it is not him.
I own many pots and pans. Cupboard space is limited but if the cooking implements are stacked in a logical manner everything fits nicely.
By 'logical' it is implied that smaller items are placed inside larger ones of similar design, thus creating compact stacks.
Why is it that when a cupboard door is opened that tall wobbling columns of assorted cookware are revealed?
The bottom piece might be a small stainless steel bowl, topped by a large skillet, a medium stockpot, an inverted baking sheet, a tiny saucepan, followed by a much larger one that contains my flour sifter.
Now imagine four such towering structures defying gravity in a small cupboard.
It is truly a wonder.

Does Baldur have similar issues with the tupperware cupboard? I will admit to being frequently irritated by the absolute inabilty to find a lid that matches with the bottom I've chosen. Our tupperware cupboard seems to have a similar stacking style (say that 10 times fast) as your pot cupboard.

There is no Tupperware cupboard here but I can just imagine what chaos one would create.
Baldur does not have sufficient plastic storageware to give a permanent home to.

Well, a little news from here at Chez Dragon (aka Margaritaville). Yesterday my fiance and I had the legal wedding ceremony that paves the way for a smooth and easy wedding in Mexico. So I can now call him my hubby! We had our friends in from Saskatoon to be the witnesses and my mom and her husband were wedding crashers as they live just down the road from were we did the ceremony. (They were the most welcome wedding crashers I think there's ever been, we were happy to have them there). Always a risk doing an outdoor wedding in Oct in Canada, it was cold and breezy but a lovely setting all in all. After the ceremony we were extremely quick to put on our jackets again and start warming up! Happily the rain that was forecast held off until late in the evening. After the ceremony we headed over to my mom's place for snacks and champagne (my folks are so thoughtful!) then ourselves and our witnesses (who were the couple that introduced us) went out for dinner at the Greek restaurant here in town, we got to dance with the belly-dancer and they brought us ouzo shots and free baklava. A good time was had by all. (I will say I'm certainly hoping for a warmer day for the big ceremony on the beach in 2 weeks time!)

Congratulations on your nuptials, Dragon. Now you've got me wondering if this means you get to celebrate 2 different wedding anniversaries every year? You could really milk this to get extra presents from your hubby if you play your cards right!

Did you wear your wedding gown for this ceremony, or is that saved for the resort celebration? I forgot to offer my services to you. I am an ordained minister, having performed the ceremony for my good friend last year. I'd be happy to escort you to Mexico and officiate! LOL

We're planning on using the Mexico wedding date for our anniversary. I didn't wear the wedding gown for this ceremony, I'm saving that for the big one (besides I haven't done my final fitting of it yet, I really must call them and see what's taking so long!) I had a dress which I bought to use after the ceremony in Mexico in case my gown is too hot. Funny thing was on Friday night my hubby (he, love writing that) tried on his ring and it wouldn't fit, he crunched his knuckle a couple of weeks ago and it's swollen up. We had to go to the farmer's market the morning of the wedding day and pick up a cheap, stainless steel ring to use for the ceremony. We're very much hoping his finger is better by the big day, his actual wedding ring is Tungsten and you can't resize that.

I disturbed an underground yellowjacket's nest while doing yardwork for a neighbor. Got stung about a dozen times. OUCH.
Luckily I'm not allergic to the stuff
During the attack I ran pretty darn fast, in the process I pulled off my shirt which was coverered by the attacking insect militia.
A while later when poking the shirt with a long stick there were still many of the nasty beasties attached to it.
3 of the stings were on my lower back, one on my upper lip and the others on my scalp. They also tried to get my legs but couldn't make it through the fabric of the pants. Thank the gods for that.

A most hearty congratulations, Dragon. Was wondering how people did weddings in foreign countries ... apparently (or at least in your case) the legal stuff is done in country of legal residence. That's so interesting and hey, fun because you get two weddings! What is the date of the second wedding? Want to be sure to send good wishes on that day. : )

Baldur, so sorry about yellowjacket attack. Their stings HURT, especially on the lip. Do you have a good rememdy to take the bite out of stings? Am sure there are some but the only one I know about is time.

Someone asked about our bats a while back but I forget who. Short update is that they left when it got very hot this summer and came back about a month ago. Originally there were 21 bats and now there are around 50. The increase is partly in pups. We have big brown bats. I've never thought of brown as an interesting color but their fur has a sheen to it that is delightful. They make a lot of chirping noises before leaving the roost at night and I find them utterly adorable! Even spouse gets a goofy look of pleasure when we shine the flashlight in the bat house.

Never thought I'd fall in love with bats but it's a surprising world. For Christmas I'm getting a bat detector but actually getting it this week because I found a very good deal. : )

A Bat Detector?... sounds like something Adam West would wear on his Bat Utility Belt.

I didn't do anything about the stings. The only one I can still feel is the one on my lip.

Glad to hear Baldur is doing well after all those stings. Good that he's not allergic.

I too am interested in hearing about the 'bat detector'. I also wonder how big the bat house is? I've seen them here but they have always been not much bigger than a bird house. I'm quite sure none of the one I've seen could fit 50 bats even if many of them were pups. I wonder if marius has the deluxe, penthouse version of a bat house.

(BTW, the date of the big ceremony is Oct 17)

I think that Marius should install a webcam in the bat house, then stream it on Ustream so we can all see the bats. I always watch the hummingbird and eagle webcams on there.

I didn't know baby bats were called pups. Seems weird. Baby mice are called pinkies, and you'd think that baby bats would look pretty similar, given the rodent connection. I think of pups being canine.

Oct. 17th happened to be my parent's anniversary Dragon, only the year was 1953. Then, 2 years ago, my good friend Holly married Roman on that date, in a Basquo Fiasco to rival all Basque weddings! Remember that? They were trying to hook me up with her husband's cousin, and Baldur said if we indeed started dating, we could be known as Basque and Robin! LOL, I shamelessly stole that joke and told everyone, who laughed and thought I was so clever! (Sorry Baldur, I still feel a little guilty for that!) Anyway, Oct. 17th is historically a perfect date for weddings. My parents were happily married and my friends Holly and Roman are still in bliss and expecting their second baby!
