Dragon

Well, there is a new addition at Chez Dragon. Last night we went and picked out a new kitten. His name is Simon and he is an 8 week old blk male. So far he is quite delightful, very sweet and has not started showing any particularly obnoxious traits, though we haven't even had him for 24 hours yet so I'm sure some will crop up.
Our female cat Matilda is not thrilled (though we knew she wouldn't be) but our adult male Oscar is warming up to him. He has his nose a little out of joint at no longer being the absolute center of attention but he's definitly interested in the new little guy no matter how much he tries to look aloof.

Congratulions on adopting baby Simon, those evil traits will appear soon enough.
Here the two kittens have an odd relationship. Chloe, who is half the size of her brother Kyle is definitely the dominant one. She asserts herself continuously by swatting at him, pouncing on him and shouldering him away from the food bowl. The fact that there are 2 bowls of dry food and 2 bowls of moist makes no difference.
If Chloe notices him eating she will choose to eat from that bowl herself and push him aside.
Both defer to Shakira of course.

I am amazed by the behavior of Cloe. It's so unusual that a female would take a dominant role. When I adopted my first kittens in 1984, I named the little blak male Simon, because, clearly whatever Simon Says, goes. And it was just as Baldur described. Two dishes of food made no difference. I tried placing them at opposite ends of the kitchen. Poor Simon was beside himself, running frantically back and forth to crowd his sister out. Finally she gave up and waited for him to finish, looking as aloof as possible, and , for those who know cats, nobody does aloof better! She had her own way of getting even, spending extra time in my lap!

Sounds like Chloe and Kyle are true siblings, sounds like my brother and sister when they were kids! I've had some very pushy female cats in the past and my mom still has one who is always determined to get what she wants.

Congratulions - is a wonderful new word: is it perhaps millions of congratulations, or, since it is a softer word, possibly more of a sympathetic pat on the back? Whatever it is, it is a lovely Baldurism and he too deserves the best of congratulions from all of us.

Heavens, Baldur created a new word.

What really chafes me is when I see 'Congrats' used, especially in a preprinted greeting card. If you deserve to be congratulated, you deserve the entire word.

This is also the anniversary of the day that Bing Crosby recorded the iconic 'White Christmas'.
The Ken Darby singers and the John Scott Trotter Orchestra were the back-ups for this recording session at Decca Studios in Los Angles in 1942,

Congratulations on your new look, Baldur, and congratulions on your new word!
I would like to thank all the many TDers who extended sympathy and condolences on the loss of my cats Penny and Francesco in April and May. It has been a sad time but your kind words make it easier. I am not looking to replace them (as if that were possible), as I still have Jasmyn, Jesse, and Joey. It used to be that it was only the medical that was expensive but now, even the food is a real consideration. TD animal lovers rock!

Baldur had the pleasure of seeing the film 'Burlesque' the other night.
What I was most surprised by was Christina Aguilera's performance.
It is true that she has never been a singer that I admired.
Tonight's 'Musical Moment' is from the film, it is risque' but not horribly so.
It is reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe, and Eartha Kitt.
For you pleasure...

There seems to be no true concensus on the lyrics. I tried in vain to find out who penned them.
Here is one version found on the internet, the biggest bit of contention is the word 'ham'.
Several people have chosen 'hell' or 'hills' instead.

The dress is Channel, the shoes YSL
The bag is Dior, Agent Provocateaur
My address today, L.A. by the way
Above Sunset Strip, the Hills all the way
My rings are by Webster, they makes their heads twirl
They all say “Darling, what did you do for those pearls?”
What?! I am a good girl

B.H. I adore, Rodeo O L'amore
Breakfast Polo Lounge, and poolside for sure
The Chateau for cocktails, the Courtyard at night
Dan Tana's for dinner, the ham is divine
You know I have found, the word’s gone around
They all say my feet never do touch the ground
What?! I am a good girl

I am a good girl

I was weeding my garden today and found a real crop of dandelions so thought I'd give the greens another try. I googled this.http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/448805

I do love those Lizzi. The comments about dandelion greens on the page were funny, there are a lot of haters.
They will always taste bitter no matter how they are prepared, it's part of their charm.

Big news up here in Canada. Winnipeg is finally getting a hockey team again. It's all but official that the Atlanta Thrashers are moving up to Winnipeg, there is some question as to what the teams new name will be but I, for one, am hoping they go back to the Jets. It just wouldn't seem right to have a Winnipeg team named something else (plus Manitobans having been begging to bring back the Jets for year!)
