I can't get that last link to open.

Also, wow, Shirley Temple and William Shakespeare both on the same day!

Thanks for that link Baldur - what an amazing space the architect has made out of that factory - and to hell with dusting! I love the way he has softened the starkness with the drapery of planting.

I refuse to believe that I keep making this same mistake, and now suspect the fault to be with Wikipedia, the source of my birthday list.
Yesterday's birthdays are actually today's. Today's list should have been published yesterday.
I do double check the date and the list now, only to be frustrated when the same names come up again the next day.

Happy Birthday (yesterday) to Kelly Clarkson, Dusty Anderson, Danny Gokey, Yuji Nagata, Barbra Streisand, Richard M. Daley, John Williams, Sue Grafton, Shirley MacLaine, Robert Penn Warren, Willem de Kooning, Anthony Trollope and Vincent de Paul.

It's been ages since I posted a recipe.
Here is a very simple, extremely wonderful recipe for blondies.

Peanut Butter Blondies

Preheat the oven to 350F

Cream together:
1+1/2 cup sugar
1 stick (1/2 cup) soft butter
I/2 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine in a bowl:
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture , do not overmix it!
Fold into this batter:
6 oz chocolate chips or coarsely chopped chocolate bars
1/2 cup salted dry roasted peanuts

Spread the batter into an ungreased 13" by 9" baking pan
Bake for 35 minutes
Allow to cool before cutting into 12 bars

It's about time you did something here other than list birthdays.
Here is another recipe from my files:

Here is an old favorite recipe for a very simple and moist chocolate cake.
It contains no eggs, no dairy products and is still amazing... even without icing

Recession Cake

Preheat the oven to 350F
Take an ungreased 9" square cake pan and add:
1 cup sugar
1+1/2 cups flour
3 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Stir the dry ingredients to combine them

In a bowl combine:
1 Cup water
1 Tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 Tablespoons of vegetable oil

Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and whisk them together with a fork until the lumps are gone.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Hello everyone at Radio Baldur.
I'm in London this week to attend a wedding, I must say the place is scrubbed and polished beautifully.

Auntie B, it's nice to hear from you again, it's been ages it seems. Has your jetsetting lifestyle been keeping you from your nephew's channel?
Should we be expecting to see you in the front row at Westminster Abbey with a devilishly handsome bit of arm candy next to you?

Sounds like a wonderful recipe Auntie B. I am sending it to my niece, as she doesn't eat dairy, eggs or gluten. (she can substitute with gluten free flour). Thanks for sharing! Have fun at the wedding!

Thanks for the recipes, Auntie B. and I can't wait to see your wedding hat!

Enjoy your stay in London, AuntieB. With all those people camped on the route from palace to cathedral, I don't expect it will stay scrubbed and polished for long. The atmosphere is fantastic. I'll keep a look out for you on the television.

Well your Auntie B has been very busy this Spring.
The wedding invitation arrived while I was visiting with an old friend on the island of Crete.
What a lovely place, the ruins, the history, the wildflowers, the shopping.....
But anyway Giorgio and I spent a lovely Easter and then it was necessary for me to fly to London. There were the fittings, all the little parties leading up to the big event and of course the endless politicking.
My decision of who would escort me that day was very difficult.
Giorgio's wife was not invited due to some indiscretion that offended the bride's family, and she would not permit Giorgio to attend without her.
Her return to Crete shortly after my departure bodes terribly for her husband's social life.
Anyway after reviewing my options it seemed obvious that a certain young Scottish naval officer would be the perfect choice. He is tall enough that I can wear heels, and imposing enough that I need not fend off the other gentlemen. They will be kept at bay while I am on his arm.

My hat arrived just last week. Luckily there was time to fly to Paris and see about having one made. They made up the sketches for my approval on the spot, assembled it practically overnight and shipped it to my London townhouse.
But let's have some fun here..Why not have a contest to design the perfect wedding hat?
I will choose a winner from among any entries this Sunday.
Is anyone interested in this small competition?

lesley gene, I do hope that recipe will work with non-gluten flour.
It is rather versatile.
I have prepared it with carob powder instead of cocoa and made a version using brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and no cocoa at all.
In every instance it turned out nicely.
