hehehe, that would make me want to shop there again!

Dragon

Dragon is excited. We got our first RSVP envelope back from our wedding invites today. It was from my dad who I knew was coming but still, I've been patiently (ok maybe not so patiently) checking the mail every day since we sent them out and it was such a nice little thrill to open the mailbox and see that little green envelope in there. Had to laugh though, my dad simply put a check mark in the space beside "Attending" instead of indicating the number of people coming. I think he usually leaves responding to invite to my step mom. He also wrote "Woohoo!" at the bottom, which I just love.

Normal

Love that, Marius! Dragon is right; that's a superb marketing ploy!

And my nephew wrote "Yay!" on his RSVP to my daughter in 2002.
Also much appreciated.

Agree with Dragon and Normal about marius' shopping experience. What a hoot. Was intrigued by Mistinguett in Baldur's birthday lineup today. Apparently a quote attributed to her is:
"A kiss can be a comma, a question mark or an exclamation point. That's basic spelling that every woman ought to know."
Ooh la la!!

My beau and I got good news finally. We finally have a proper date for our wedding. We already knew we were going to do it in Mexico beween Oct 14-21 but it has been quite the runaround trying to get an actual date from our travel agent. We ended up having to send out our invitations without a specific date, just the travel dates. I'm sure a wedding etiquette guru would be scandalized but we had to get them out one way or another so people have time to make travel arrangments if they're coming. So after a great deal of waiting and multiple phonecalls to the travel agent we are set for Oct 17. Yaaaaaay!

Congratulations Dragon. Mexico is not at all draconian, so it is an unusual wedding destination.
I had a wonderful time there myself back in the late 1980s.... a very beautiful country with a lushness that surprised me.
People in the USA tend to stereotype the country as being entirely arid and desertlike. This is not the case.

Baldur

Now Baldur must admit he is somewhat confused by the recent passing of at least one (possibly 3) of our ThinkDraw Family. Can someone please explain the Gremmy (Emmy)-Giraffe situation to me.
I have read the threads but do not understand what has happened at all.
Has Gremmy passed away? Has Giraffe passed away?
Is (was) Gremmy also Giraffe or was Gremmy Emmy and Giraffe someone else entirely?
Am I the only one confused here?

8838. 9 Apr 2011 13:54

Baldur

It appears that my impending grandchild will be a boy.
The name that has been chosen by the parents is 'Conor Wolfgang'.
Baldur applauds the choice, I have never understood why so many parents go with unimaginative choices.
I would never re-use a family name, each child deserves one of his own.

The way I understand Baldur, is that both Gremmy, (Emy or EmyO) and Giraffe have passed away. They are two different people. Gremmy was a relatively new artist who was very ill. She also was pretty active at Thinkwrite, though I don't follow there, so don't know much. I know she was very friendly on TD.

Giraffe drew for awhile, but was more active currently at Thinkwrite. His last picture here was July 2010. I think relatives sent e-mails or posted comments on TW about their passing.

Dragon

I must agree with Baldur that I don't understand people who feel the need to name their children after themselves. That whole Junior thing kind of escapes me, it seems to rob their child of having their own personality, kind of like saying "You're going to be just like me whether you like it or not."
That being said I will say that I've noticed a lot of people naming their children things that I consider to be dog or cat names. Names like Colt and Chase and whatnot. I don't care much for that. We have one family who brings their pets in and the kids are all named dog names while the dogs are named kid names. Something like 'Bill' for the dog and 'Talon' for the kid. We have another family whose cat is named 'Sienna' and whose child is named 'Sierra'. That seems very strange to me.
