Good morning Baldurites. (According to Webster’s future editions, Baldurites are those who frequent Channel Baldur. Seriously.) Anyway, marius knows Baldur loves plants and working in gardens so just thought I’d share a new technique. : )

Yes, it’s time for another Missouri Moment.

Over the weekend Robert and I went into the city (as in Kansas City). We almost never go there because neither of us likes driving in that traffic, but it had to be done. I needed a new silk scarf, which has nothing to do with gardening ... but oh wait ... it really does because you see, silk makes me feel good and when I feel good I want to garden.

As we were driving along, crossing the Missouri River and all of that, Robert had the radio playing and it was some horrid pop tune, one of those that are not sing-able. After a bit he says to me, “What are you saying?”

Marius was not aware that she was ‘saying’ anything. We resumed driving in silence and again the question, at which point consciousness returned and I said, “Oh, I’m singing to the lettuce seeds.” In truth, I’ve been singing to them every day since planting on the 23rd. There is nothing quite like spring lettuce and for some reason I’ve not planted any in 25 years.

Of course, spouse wanted to know the song and when I sang it to him, he just shook his head and promised that I would not win a Grammy or indeed any other award. Probably true, but ... it could be that lettuce seeds LIKE to be sung to, in which case I will know because they will grow quite like you’d expect lullaby-d seeds to grow. I will post results when I have them. In the meanwhile ... the lettuce seed song is sung to this tune:

That was thoroughly enjoyable, thank you marius! You just gotta love those old tunes don't you?

I was at my mom's place on Sunday and watched the last half of the Juno's with her (that's like the Canadian Grammy's) and I found that I had not ever even heard of most of the singers and groups who were nominated. The only ones I had heard of were Justin Beiber (seriously, who hasn't, the kid is everywhere!), Randy Bachman and Neil Young. I was also very pleased when Neil Young took home a Juno that everyone thought would go to Justin Beiber, that gave us a chuckle.
Though I hadn't heard of any of the performers I will say that it was quite a good show and there were some really talented musicians playing that night.
