Sorry if my previous comment appears to be an order. I meant that, with three massive hits of different kinds, Japan needs help from all nations able to give it.

Yes Lizzi, I had noticed. Get well soon, Baldur.

I hope this hasn't been too distressing for my listeners, Baldur will be back.
Right now it's all I can do to just check in, and of course crank out the daily birthday wishes.

A friend of mine, Michio, returned to Japan to visit his family just a week before the earthquake struck.
He has finally gotten in touch with us here in Rhode Island. Phonelines were extremely congested as can be expected and it was difficult to get a call through.
He is staying in Shizuoka Prefecture, which is South of Tokyo, away from the worst effects of the disaster. He is fine though anxious.
His intentions had been to stay for 5 weeks with his elderly parents, it is yet to be decided if he will cut the visit short.

Happy Birthday to Stormy Daniels, Alvaro Recobo, Andrew 'Test' Martin, Mia Hamm, Alexander McQueen, Rob Lowe, Gary Sinise, Kurt Russell, Zola Taylor, Rudolph Nureyev, Ken Mattingly, James Irwin, Nat King Cole, Sammy Baugh, Kate Greenaway and Gottlieb Daimler.

Actually Baldur has once again messed up the Birthdays. These people celebrated yesterday, yesterday's birthday list is actually for today.

I find it funny that Gary Sinise shares a birthday with Ken Mattingly as Gary Sinise played Ken Mattingly in the movie Apollo 13.

Dragon has a little public service message for all those dog owners our there (hopefully our host won't mind me using his airspace for it).

Today we had a very sick dog come in, she was in such bad shape she could barely hold herself up. It turns our she has pyometra which is an infection of the uterus. This is very common in unspayed dogs and can be deadly. If this dog had been left for one more day she probably wouldn't have survived. So the public service message is this: If you are not breeding your female dog please have her spayed. Spayed dogs absolutly never get uterine infections (not surprising -they have no uterus!). If you are not breeding there is no reason not to spay your dog.
Thank you for listening.

Dragon, good advice. : )

Now here's something fun. Tomorrow night the full moon is supposed to look larger than it has in 20 years. Reason is that it will be closer to earth and at an odd angle. Best time to really note size difference is when moon is rising (maybe setting too). It's called a super full moon.

Since my aunt lives at the edge of "country" nearby, I suggested stopping on my way out there for Chinese food and watching the moonrise from her land. Alas, the sun disappeared to a gentle glow by 4 pm. Only thing we could see in the sky after 7 pm was the red lights on top of the wind towers. Also, Jade Garden proved to be defunct, so we ate Kentucky fried, alas, alas. May hap it will blow over by tomorrow morning, since I could see moonset from my very own balcony. Not counting on it!

Here is something interesting from the Internet.
Is it true though?

1. Red hair is seen on the heads of only four percent of people.
2. The sale of at home red hair dye kits has gone up seventeen percent since 2000.
3. The Romans kept red haired slaves, and at a higher price.
4. Bees are thought to sting redheads more than others.
5. In Greek Mythology, redheads turn into Vampires when they die.
6. Redhead are harder to sedate requiring twenty percent more anesthesia.
7. The first human redheads walked this earth about 50,000 years ago in Africa.
