I'd like to introduce a Japanese blind pianist.

He played La Campanella at Cliburn competition 2009 and won.
Obviously, his hearing is much more developed than most of us who are able-bodied.

Thank-you hanging. I saw this competition on TV last year.....he is AMAZING.
I'm anxious for him to make an album. I'm also a fan of Lang Lang, a young
Chinese pianist. I especially like the way he does Chinese Traditional music...it's lovely.

Baldur should love this, Q!! She reminds me of a female, horticultural Mr Rogers! Just delightful!

Belated birthday greetings, Baldur. 'Glad you had a good birthday meal.

My computer has been ill but, after seeing the computer doctor, it is now perking up and getting back to normal. I missed you all and have a lot of catching up to do. What a fabulous showcase!

And a very happy belated B-day to Baldur from me too! I was actually quite pleased to see that Baldur shares his b-day with Majel Barrett Rodenberry (one of my favorite Star Trek people!)

Baldur, BALDUR!! Are you OK?

I share lynnspotter's concern--hoping our host Baldur is okay, not having heard from him in a few days. See--we do pay attention!!!

Baldur

Sorry for all the concern that I've caused.
Baldur had a terrible head cold with lots of sinus pressure, to the point that my eyes were runny and hurt. It was not comfortable to watch a computer screen so I took a few days off.
I'll be back, probably tomorrow.

Whew! Thanks for the update, Baldur, and we hope you recover speedily.

Recovery soon Baldur!

Meanwhile, looking for Old Master's self-portraits I found this amazing series:

I just have noticed before the very special glance an artist has when is portraiting his/herself... an intense and craving glance - somehow scared too - as could a human being have when looking for the most elusive thing in the word: him/herself.

Feel better soon Baldur!

Hope that virus is soon zapped, Baldur!
Cloro ~ that morphing photo series was mind-boggling! I'll watch it another few times, using the PAUSE button. Wish there was a way to identify them, but I certainly noticed a few you've done for us on TD!

Thanks for the link, Cloro! The morphing video is interesting in itself, but the other links are also good.
Please feel better soon, Baldur. We miss you.

Baldur lives.
Thank you everyone for your best wishes. It may take me a day or so to review the contributions made during my absence but I shall get there.

Hope Baldur is feeling better, I'm suffering something very similar and so I can relate (though I wish it were otherwise).

Have to share a profoundly gorgeous experience. For those who saw "The King's Speech," his final speech is accompanied by the 2nd Movement ( the Alegretto) of Beethoven's 7th symphony. The film implies that this is what the King hears in his head in order to get past his hesitations, having learned he could sometimes sing the words that got stuck in speaking. If you go to YouTube - Beethoven's 7th symphony - Hubble images, you'll find a breathtaking series of photos from space which perfectly accompany the music. For me, it amounts to a prayer.
