Yes, happy birthday Catwoman! (Also loved Eartha Kitt in The Emperor's New Groove, they couldn't have picked a better voice talent to use.)

Can't believe I missed Frank Zamboni's b-day, you'd think it would be a national holiday up here.

I'm rather surprised myself Dragon. Someday when Baldur takes his Canadian citizenship test he will be sure to be well versed in Zamboni science.

nod... I've just added it to my "dailies" list of quick to-do's.

Not sure how automated the removal process is, or whether Rachel's stuck with aspects of it on HER to-do's too... (mentally seeing her juggling new baby, household stuff, computer...) Definitely appears to be a single live human with a little vendetta tho, not a bot. Pity.

;-P

The spam is getting rather annoying.

It's that time of year where Jeopardy is looking for new contestants.
Baldur just registered to take the online test, shouldn't you?
Go to sonypictures.com for registration information.
They have not chosen me yet though I've taken the tests several times.

This was a busy weekend.

On Satyrday I went to a free bookswap held at a Quaker meeting house.
There were millions of books and one could take whatever they wanted as long as they donated something as well.
6 books came home with me. They hold this event every month, the next one is already written in on my calendar.

Sunday Robert and I went to a bear brunch held at one of those all you can eat family restaurants. 75 of us were crammed into the private function room. It was lots of fun.
There was so much food! I ended up making myself plates of super breakfast nachos: a pile of tortilla chips topped with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, corn & black bean salad, scrambled eggs, sliced jalapeno peppers, salsa, sliced black olives, grated cheddar cheese and Louisiana hot sauce.

Yesterday we took Shakira and the babies to the doctor to get their distemper booster shots. We also had Shakira tested for feline leukemia.
The results came back negative.
We will need to bring them all back to get vaccinated for this. I'm not certain why they couldn't give the shot to at least Shakira right then and there.
Shakira goes outside daily, she runs around until her feet get cold and then is content to remain indoors.
The kittens aren't going out until the Spring.

Guten Tag alles!
Auntie B is spending some time in Salzburg this Winter. It is so beautiful.
The Baron has a lovely little estate up in the Alps, and it's just a short ride into town for shopping, the Opera or coffee and pastry at a Konditorei.
This weekend he surprised me with a pair of diamond earrings. They are fashioned to resemble little icicles. Auntie B has been wearing them while taking her ice-dancing lessons.
Last week we took a drive down to Graz and volunteered a day working at a charity that collects and distributes Winter coats to the needy.
Several of my coats from last season ended up going to some women there and it brings me great joy to see them so greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear the Feleuk tests were negative. Perhaps your vet will give you a discount on vaccines for having the whole batch of them done at once? Not all vets do but it never hurts to ask.

That free book exchange would be great! Books are so expensive to buy new, and if you're like me you always have a bunch of books in the house that you will never read again anyway. We do have a book exchange here but it's a business. They are very picky about the books they take, if it's damaged or they already have a few copies they won't take it, but when they do they give you credits to buy other books at a discounted rate. They aren't free, of course, but at least you always know they'll be in good condition and it's still cheaper than going to Chapters.

Great to hear from Auntie B. I can just imagine those needy ladies in Salzburg wearing full length mink coats (or is Auntie B anti-fur?)

Guten Abent Dragon,
The coats went to the needy in Graz, there are no needy people in Salzburg. I've never understood just how they manage that.

AuntieB, nice to know your last seasons coats have gone to a worthy cause.

I've just come across another Hovis advert ... it made me smile.

oookaaay Login.... need help with translation here.
The conkers bit I actually got (had a grand old tree and the wicked milkmen taught me to swing those deadly things!) but at the end what's the postman going to get 'is ma to make up for 'im??

Isn't it gorgeous?... makes you yearn for simpler times...

Q, he's going to get 'is ma to make up a suitcase full... of Hovis butties (slang for sandwich - from 'buttered' bread). Love the accent!

Thanks for the smile, Login!

Oh....... so on 'Keeping Up Appearances' Onslow is forever asking Daisy to make him a bacon 'buttie' (or sandwich).
Thank you for clearing up that mystery mum23, it's been rattling about, unsolved, in my head for ages.

By the way, Login, I'm curious to know what regional accent that is. We've watched a number of BBC productions, so get to hear a fair range of English accents, some more understandable than others!

My husband grew up in England, but has never had a regional accent... in fact our children speak so 'correctly' that people usually assume that they have spent time in England. When my husband's brother came over, he had a very broad accent, which was different to the one in the advertisement, but he also referred to sandwiches as 'butties'. Is that a term commonly used throughout England, or is it regional as well?
