Aaah, now the real question is does Satan go commando in those chaps or is there a thong involved?

Is this your pattern B?

Yes actually it is Lynn.
I'm looking for a detached one however, the version where the gravy boat and platter are separate. The crazing doesn't concern me, I can bleach that out.

OK! I live close to Replacements. Never know when they might have one. They are expensive though, because they only take "perfect".

That's cool that you live near there, I wish I were close enough to visit that place.
Several times I've bit the bullet and bought things from them, but they are indeed quite pricey.

Today Baldur went to a cookout for the Northeast Santa Claus Association which has been courting me to become a member. They were quite a nice group of people.
I did some networking, made some friends.
Baldur forgot how difficult it is to be charming for several hours at a time. There was no one there who knew me personally and that was cause enough to remain on my best behaviour.

Baldur

As a result I am quite worn out now.
You all assume that my charm comes naturally and easily like warm honey flowing over waffles but in actuality I tend to be sarcastic and taciturn (+10 points for Baldur) unless I make a great mental effort to reign in those tendencies.

What of Radio Baldur's faithful listeners?
How do each of you handle similar circumstances?

Suppose that you arrive alone at a social function where there is absolutely no one that you have met face to face, how do you handle the difficulties of self-introduction and finding topics of discussion?

I am rather curious as to the techniques employed.

In my case I was lucky to find Santa-George quickly, despite there being 23 large men with bushy white beards milling around. This gentleman was the reason for my invitation, through mutual acquaintances, neither of whom could attend this cookout.
Once I had grasped George's hand and had that bit of recognition in front of the others it wasn't difficult the get a drink and mingle.

My actual saviour was a Mrs Claus named 'Fran' who engaged me in a conversation, others joined in and it now seemed they were all old friends.

In my favor I have made appearances as Santa Claus for several years, thus I was not at all a newby. It's good to have common experiences to stimulate discussion.

In all Baldur was there for 6 hours, quite a workout for my social skills.

The food was excellent, the rain held off and there weren't as many mosquitoes as I had feared.
All in all a good day.

I find at social settings, most are there to meet and connect with people. Just start talking to anyone, smile, be positive, and most important, listen!
When I had my business, I had to talk, but over time found that some love to talk about themselves, some don't at all. The type of party or gathering also. makes it easy, so there is your topic! But, I love meeting new people, espically young adults, as they know whats going on, and just enjoy the conversation!!

Baldur

I love young adults and find them more respectful to me in conversation than I remember my generation being towards elders 30 years ago.
This is quite heartening.

Oh dear, this thread is on the cusp of hitting another milestone.
Can you imagine 700 responses to such an egotistical topic?
