Baldur

We have a request from a faithful listener to hear 'I can't live' by Mariah Carey.
The listener, Annie Ominous would like to dedicate this to matthew and Ron.
Here goes:

No, I can’t forget this evening
Or your face as you were leaving
But I guess that’s just the way this story goes,
You always smile....
But in you eyes your sorrow shows
Yes it shows

No I can’t forget tomorrow
When I think of all my sorrows
When I had you there but then I let you go
And now it’s only fair that I should let you know
What you should know

I cant live
If living is without you
I can’t live
I can’t give anymore
Can’t live
If living is without you
can’t give,
I can’t give anymore

Well, I can’t forget this evening
Or your face as you were leaving
But I guess that’s just the way this story goes,
You always smile
But in you eyes your sorrow shows
Yes it shows

can’t live
If living is without you
I can’t live
I can’t give anymore
Can’t live
If living is without you
I can’t live,
I can’t give anymore

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh(No can’t live)
No no no (No I can’t live)
I can’t live (No can’t live)
If living is without (No I can’t live)
I can’t live (No can’t live)
I can’t give anymore (No I can’t live)

I'm still searching for the error, glad you enjoyed it.

This emotional healing between the gods of ThinkDraw has brought a tear to my eye, or was that just from an extremely pungent urinal block?

I must say there pizza is always excellent even when Al, the old man, isn't in the kitchen.

Elementary (10 points for Annie) my dear Baldur!

I need to add credits for the above song.

'Without You' was written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans members of the group 'Badfinger' in the 1960s and released as an album track.
It was re-recorded as a single by Harry Nilsson and was a hit for him from the end of 1971 into early 1972.
In 1991 'Air Supply' also released it as a single and fared well with it.
Then in 1994 Mariah Carey did her thang to it.

We have had 3 days of damp grey weather here at Chateau Baldur. It hasn't rained all that much though.
Today I saw the first signs of life where the basil should be growing. The seeds took an awful long time to germinate.
There was a little bright red, hard shelled bug eating my oriental lilies (obviously not a ladybug) earlier this week. I dispatched a few to bug heaven and haven't seen any more.

Also put in more nasturtium seeds where some hadn't come up yet, including a few in the window boxes.
These window boxes are technically Robert's domain, but I've long since learned that he forgets to water them.
I water them 6 times for each time that he does it himself.
This year he planted red Salvia and assorted dwarf Zinnias in the boxes.
He always includes the Salvia as the hummingbirds love it.
After the boxes were finished I tucked a few Dwarf Cherry Rose Nasturtium seeds in each. they will drape down a bit and soften the overall effect.
Robert hasn't noticed them yet and possibly never will.

Baldur tends to plant flowers in odd assortments.
I don't like the beds to be completely chaotic but do enjoy putting odd combinations together. Usually things are planted in sizeable clumps so there are patches of a single color.
Some of the combinations include:
Inky dark blue Spiderwort with bright yellow Iris
Brilliant orange Oriental Poppies with smokey blue Baptisia
Deep ruby Tudor Roses with lacey white Queen Anne's Lace
Olive green Prickly Pear cacti with orange and fuschia Portulacas
Deep maroon hollyhocks with pale yellow feverfew
Yellow Tea Roses with ruby red Bee Balm
Mauve Balloon flowers with mahogany and orange marigolds

It's a lot of fun coming up with pairs of plants that show off each other.
I had a dark area underneath an older Canadian hemlock tree that was quite unnoticeable until I planted a swath of hostas, each large white leave edged in a band of emerald. Now it looks fantastic from spring through late fall. When the Hostas melt away with the frost you can then see the odd round stones scattered around the area.

In early Spring the Snowdrops pop up until the Canadian hemlock. By the time their flowers fade the Hosta leaves are on their way.

Qsilv

Every one of those combinations sounds enticing.

Qsilv's not a fan of strong contrasts, and definitely not of opposites on the color wheel, yet sometimes a particular combination just... hm... I dunno... sings?!

Queen Elizabeth roses (clearest pink - no hint of yellowing at all) bursting out of their dark moss leaves against a brick wall (old bricks, not orange but still this red does have a golden undertone), under- and inter-planted with a wealth of blues: lupine spikes, statice mounds, low carpeted lobelia...

I'd just sit and stare for lonnnnnnng minutes at it all. (Do you think one can inhale a visual?)

Would you believe that I am completely color blind...

... Wait...

...That was a different me...

...Do go on...

Well that would explain the garish colors of your thongs.

I've gotten more that one recipe from Channel Baldur that I really want to try so I thought I'd reciprocate.
Here's a little recipe my honey and I quite enjoy.

Roasted Red Pepper & Corn Chowder

6 large red peppers
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 small onions, chopped
2 large potatoes, peeled
3 Tbsp butter
4 cups (1 litre) bouillon or 900mL Chicken broth
½ tsp each salt and ground pepper
1 tsp dried tarragon leaves
1 cup frozen or canned corn niblets
Sour cream (optional)

Roast peppers and remove skins. Prepare garlic and onions. Chop potatoes into small cubes. Melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and onions. Stir often until onions are soft. Then add potatoes, broth and seasonings. Boil then reduce heat. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally until potatoes are fork tender. Whirl peppers in food processor until pureed. Stir into soup along with corn. Bring to a boil then reduce heat. Cover and simmer until corn is hot.
Serve with a dollop of sour cream if desired.

(To roast peppers, for those who don't know, you seed them and cut them into large pieces then lay them on a cookie sheet with the skins facing up. Put them in the oven under the broiler and watch them closely. When the skins bubble up and turn black take them out then seal them by putting a sheet of aluminum foil over them to let them sort of steam themselves. After 5 or 10 minutes remove the foil and you should be able to simple peel the skins right off.)

Dragon, I've been looking for a good corn chowder recipe for AGES! Tried a couple I found online, but nothing special. Can't WAIT to try this one! Thanks!

It takes a bit of work but it has a lot of flavour. We've used it a few times and always enjoyed the results.

Well, Baldur seems to be a little late today, so let's start off with Iam's favorite song

I am what I am
I am my own special creation
So come take a look
Give me the hook
Or the ovation
It's my world
That I want to have a little pride
My world
And it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a dam
Till I can say
I am what I am

I am what I am
I don't want praise I don't want pity
I bang my own drum
Some think it's noise I think it's pretty
And so what if I love each sparkle and each bangle
Why not see things from a different angle
Your life is a shame
Till you can shout out I am what I am

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck
Sometimes the aces sometimes the deuces
It's one life and there's no return and no deposit
One life so it's time to open up your closet
Life's not worth a dam till you can shout out
I am what I am

I am what I am

I am what I am
And what I am needs no excuses
I deal my own deck sometimes the aces sometimes the deuces
It's one life and there's no return and no deposit
One life so it's time to open up your closet
Life's not worth a dam till you can shout out
I am what I am
