I'm not a good writer, my story wasn't so great. I'll do my best.

KM, I thought it was good. After my own, Five's and Dragon's your would be next for my favors.

Ron, this is a brilliant idea. The responses are very impressive. Not only are there great story tellers amongst us but there are poets, too.
Marg, I did understand your 'Frugal Dauphin'. It gave me a much needed chuckle at the time. I appreciate your and KM's invitation to have a go ... and I will in time, (even if you've all gone home by then). My neighbour is ill in hospital and I am busy ferrying his wife to the hospital and back every day, so apart from popping into forum to see what's buzzing ... and voting on recent exceptionally outstanding drawings (have you seen Luna's 'What Movie'!) I'm not feeling at all creative at the moment.

Sorry to hear of your friends illness and hope they will be on the mend. Hope too to hear your comments soon. Take care!

Considering all the quiet waiting around that folks do in hospitals (patients AND their friends/families), doesn't it just seem reasonable to offer wifi connection to the internet for those with notebook 'puters?

It does seem to be coming, but slowly, almost grudgingly.
Passing germy magazines around the waiting room is still more common.

Personally I'm kinda charmed by the thought of a roomful of people working on ThinkDraw... (oh ok, probably more would be boning up in WebMD, but.... ) ; >

Nice idea, Qsilv. If patients were occupied in this way, it may even help the healing process along. We could ask Rachel to rename this Think Cure.

An Ode To The Family.

If life was just a bowl of cherries,
I’d be happy … but it’s not.
It’s hard to make ends meet these days
And no vitals for the pot.

When Jack retired, he brooded so
And kept himself aloof,
But nowadays he’s out all hours.
No time to fix the roof.

He said he had a toothache,
Now he’s drinking, in the Dolphin.
He’s so irresponsible …
Says he’s going to take up golfing.

Young Billy, he’s a rascal.
He won’t find himself a job.
When I ask him to wash the dishes
He puts his feet up on the hob.

“Yes Ma” he says “I’ll do just that,
When I’ve caught up on my rest.”
Henceforth, he leans back in the chair,
His arms across his chest.

Young Jenny and her boyfriend
Are saving all their money.
He is quite a charming lad
And often very funny.

Travel is what they want to do,
Roam where they want, at random.
They’ve scrimped and saved their money
And have enough to buy a tandem.

Now, what can I add to this simmering stock?
There’s potatoes by the load.
That dried up spear of asparagus
And the meat of that white toad?

Oh, Login.. that is just wonderful.. I'm thinking of putting it to song.... I know people who drink in The Dolphin and play golf !

Seriously, I think all the entries on here are just brilliant - very different, but all just so great.

Thanks, Ron, again, for something I've enjoyed enormously !

Login: I knew you could do it. You're a poet! Wonderful! I'm impressed.

Thanks ... I don't think I would have done it at all, without the inspiration that went before it ... and the ecouragement to have a go.

Oh, I loved that Login! Sounds like a long suffering mom who pretty much wouldn't have it any other way. Great submission.

Okay... Here it is... (And remember - I don't care what YOU think! Ha!)

I give the prize to Login and that dumb poem. It was fun! (Can I provoke anymore than that?)

I initiate a new ThinkWrite Thing...

I will provide Seven Words and Login may contribute two more...

Here they are:

Pills
Mayflower
Orange
Rasputin
Okay
Why Not?
Elsewhen. (Made up me-word - deal with it

Heeeeyyyyy.. before you guys ride off on your tandem.. do the same rules apply ? 200 words ? ..and are Qsilv and you (Ron) given a handicap for cheating ?

A limrick...

There once was a man from Nantucet,
Named Rasputin Eslewhen Pluckett.

On the Mayflower he came,
popping pills he's okay,
If you say why not switch to an Orange, you can suck it.

you didn't mention a word count...this is 107 words, I'll fix it once you tell us the word limit...

she was irrational,
that day last spring
when the flowers bloomed
and the birds did sing.
she was beautiful
with her simplicity
wondering what
the mayflower would bring.

that day was okay
and why not? she was there,
in her wedding dress
with her long orange hair.
she stood on the beach
staring out at the sea
wondering when they would come,
elsewhen they would stare.

rasputin popped pills
as he stood on his ship
looking off in the distance,
she was only a blip.
and he thought as he sailed
towards this girl,
his future wife
if she would kiss him,
very softly on his lip.

If you wonder where "irrational" & "simplicity" are...

...It's a limrick... limricks are irrational simplicity
