oooohyesss! Some cats deserve to live forever, at LEAST within us... Aja qualifies.

.....and in typical Aja fashion his departure was very strange.
We moved to a different apartment and he was fine with that.
I allowed him outside whenever he cared to go.
One night he didn't return by the time I went to bed. That was ok, he occasionally pulled an all-nighter and then slept in for 24 hours.
Well the next day there he is in the yard behind ours, washing his face.
I called him and he looked up, stared at my briefly and proceeded to ignore me.
I saw him almost daily for several months but he had no desire to come home. Eventually he started sporting a new collar so he was living with someone, just not me LOL.

Baldur, for the record (and to assuage Q's besetting sin)... how long after your move to the new apartment before he found a new one of his own?

5686. 14 Jan 2010 11:59

Baldur

It was about 6 months after we moved.
He had been going out almost daily for quite some time, I don't think he was confused.
Aja found a better deal.

AJA - Steely Dan Album...Very good ;D Great name for a cat too....

oh I never thought "confusion", only that there was a bridge burnt during the move... trust? loyalty? dependency? ...not sure about any of those (ok, even for myself); anyway, he was emancipated. They're funny that way.

Another odd side story was that my wife was surprised when she saw his name written for the first time.
We were sending someone a greeting card and I signed the cat's name too.
All the time she'd known me Sandra had assumed the cat's name was 'Asia'

My parents had a black lab that they could never agree on a name for. They had no problem so long as it was spoken, not written. Her name was Zoey. My mother insisted it was Zoey with a Y my step-dad insisted it was Zoe without a Y. She still came when called, guess she didn't mind with Y or without.

lol Dragon! Zoey or Zoe--the dog didn't care! I named one of our dogs Mathilda, and hubby insisted it should've been Matilda. It didn't matter, though, as we both called her Mattie on most occasions.

For this evening's musical interlude here is the Primrose Puppy Pound Tail Waggers with their version of the Henry Gross song:
'Shannon'

ANOTHER DAY IS AT END
MAMA SAYS SHE'S TIRED AGAIN
NO ONE CAN EVEN BEGIN TO TELL HER

I HARDLY KNOW WHAT TO SAY
BUT MAYBE IT'S BETTER THAT WAY
IF PAPA WERE HERE I'M SURE HE'D TELL HER

SHANNON IS GONE I HOPE SHE'S DRIFTING OUT TO SEA
SHE ALWAYS LOVED TO SWIM AWAY
MAYBE SHE'LL FIND AN ISLAND WITH A SHADY TREE
JUST LIKE THE ONE IN OUR BACKYARD

MAMA TRIES HARD TO PRETEND THINGS WILL GET
BETTER AGAIN
SOMEHOW SHE'S KEEPING IT ALL INSIDE HER

BUT FINALLY THE TEARS FILL OUR EYES
AND I KNOW THAT SOMEWHERE TONIGHT
SHE KNOWS HOW MUCH WE REALLY MISS HER

SHANNON IS GONE I HOPE SHE'S DRIFTING OUT TO SEA
SHE ALWAYS LOVED TO SWIM AWAY
MAYBE SHE'LL FIND AN ISLAND WITH A SHADY TREE
JUST LIKE THE ONE IN OUR BACKYARD

JUST LIKE THE ONE IN OUR BACKYARD

Baldur, What is this?
Puppies wagging their tails is hardly music.
Things are getting pretty desperate around here for entertainment.
I think matthew's pole dancing on the radio was the highpoint of your broadcasting career, at least until I stepped in to help out.

AuntieB

OK now it's time for the exciting new radio show on Radio Baldur.

'Cookin' with Auntie B'
Tonight Auntie B needs chocolate so let's get started right away

Butter a 13" by 9" baking pan
In a big pot melt 3 tablespoons of real butter
Dump in a bag (10 ounces) of marshmallows
Stir over low heat until melted and smooth
Dump in 6 cups of Cocoa Pebbles cereal (purists will scream 'Rice Krispies' but I'm having my chocolate moment)
Quickly using a buttered spatula smash and spread the mixture in the prepared pan.
While it is still warm and sticky scatter M&Ms (mini or regular), chocolate chips and/or broken up Hershey's bars all over the top and press down on them until they stick.
Scrape the last bit of sticky stuff out of the pot with your wooden spoon and eat it.
Place the chocolate sticky mess in the refrigerator for at least a couple minutes just to say you did before sitting down with it on your lap to watch 'Desperate Housewives'.
Leave the messy pot in the sink for Diego to clean up later.

Baldur

And believe me, other than the dirty pot in the sink there will be no evidence that these ever existed by tomorrow morning.
I should caution everyone that these have an extavagant amount of sugar in them.

5696. 14 Jan 2010 17:56

AuntieB

And if Baldur were making them it would be canola oil substitute, tofu-mallows and wheat germ Krispies.
People stick to the tried and true.

Seems I only stepped out for a few minutes ... only to come back and find out Baldur wants to be on Jeopardy? ?? ??? And, Robin is offering up extreme rides that almost make me car sick (and I do NOT get car sick), Qsilv and who know who else are talking about warm cheese, Login made me snort just when I'm sipping my tea (honestly, I think he should break if off ... the relationship, not the leg), tater sweetly returns, and AuntieB is trying to send folks into insulin shock with chocolate while marius is still reading about Aja, Zoe ( had a friend with that name) and I'm telling you ... this is the last time I leave when you're all having a party! tee hee

... a lion, a tiger and a bear, oh my! It is a bit long, no dialogue, but I enjoyed the leisurely pace. There is no dialogue so you have to read the attached story if you want to know more. : )

marius is rather giddy as she got invited to a last minute session of "sweaty church" tonight and my, that does lift the spirits. It was a women-only sweat and all of them said the same thing, the weather has made them "crabby." Well, just impossible to go through a sweat ceremony and come out crabby ... no matter how cold the snow and frozen ground are on bare feet. And, small world - there was a woman there I went to high school with. We didn't know each other then, but we concluded we should have.

PS Thanks AuntieB for the chocolate delight. Am thinking we shall try that out before the weekend. : )
