oooh nicely laid-out chart, that one!

Hey, a google search of "bourbon thinkdraw" produces only bourbon SAUCE... where's the recipe for the balls? or... "Please, sir..." (holding bowl forward in both hands, donning sweetest expression)

It's there but titled Baldur's Rum Balls, post #139 in the favorite recipes thread.
Substitute Bourbon for the Rum.

Baldur has already posted a biscotti recipe here but I found a different one this week that is far superior, and oddly easier.
The texture is much nicer and it contains not butter.
So without further ado:

Baldur's Better Basic Biscotti

preheat the oven to 350 degrees Farenheit
grease 2 large rimmed baking sheets (jelly roll pans)

In a large whisk together
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 Tablespoon of some other extract, i.e. lemon, orange, almond, anise, alligator, black walnut

Combine
3+1/4 cups of flour and
1 Tablespoon baking powder

Stir into the wet ingredients.
This dough will seem rather sticky but persevere nonetheless, oiling your hands for the next step will help.
Divide the dough into 2 pieces and form each into a long flat loaf directly on the greased baking sheets,
mine were approximately 3" wide by 15" long by 1/2" thick
If you would like you can scatter sprinkles across the top of even chopped nuts. If so press them into the surface lightly.

Bake for 27 to 30 minutes until just turning golden on the edges
remove from the oven and allow to cool for a minute or so.
Divide each one into 3 chunks and using a spatula transfer them to a cutting board
Cut them into 1/2" thick slices
return the slices to the baking sheets and bake for approximately another 10 minutes on each side. The biscotti should be a light golden brown.
Allow to cool and fill the cookie jar with them.

Thanks Baldur for the ideas! I think I'm leaning towards either the Mushroom Caps or the Torta Rustica. Who knows I may do both! Your Bourbon Balls sound yummy also. I will have to look up the recipe for those. I may make some of them as well.
My family always celebrates Christmas at my parents house and it is always a huge event with around 40 family members. There is always so much food and desserts but leftovers are usually in short demand!
I cant wait, I fast all the week before and lose about 5 pounds just so I can put it back on with 5 extra!lol
