What's tiger sauce?

482. 4 Jun 2009 05:45

Baldur

Tiger sauce is tangy but not downright hot, and is rather a pourable consistency, a little more runny than catsup.
There is a definite pepper bite to it but also horseradish in there

The menu options go on and on.
In addition to cold cuts and basics like tuna, chicken and egg salad, there are cheeses, cream cheese, peanut butter, knockwurst, bacon, sardines, lox, cranberry sauce, avocados, on and on and on

Sounds like Heinz 57 with a kick

And there's a pickle barrel in the middle of the cramped dining area where you can help yourself to kosher dills

Add some mayo too to make it whiter

One needs patience at Geoff's.
There are no waiters, you stand in line at a counter.
What's cool is that whoever takes your order physically makes your sandwich right in front of you so you can watch what's going on, ask for more cheese, less onion, whatever.

Can't decide between the Frigid Bitch and the Jen and Barry.

But it can be slow, especially if there are a lot of people in front of you.
I have never seen more than 4 people working the counter and a complicated sandwich could take 5 minutes. If the person in front of you has a list of sandwiches he needs made for everyone in his office you might as well walk down the street to the RISD museum, take in the Egyptian collection and come back later.

the 'Sloppy Ho' and the 'Godzilla' are quite popular too

The newer wave of counter help are kinder and gentler. There was a wonderful rudeness about the place a couple years back.
They had tacked up signs saying things like:
'Our hands are in your food'
'We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone we care to refuse service too'

That being said they were always very nice people

I hate it when I get simple words wrong.

It looks like this message thread will very soon hit the amazing '500 comments' level.
Who'd have thought it possible?

497. 4 Jun 2009 08:18

Baldur

Basically all this thread really is is a misplaced Baldurblog.
I have chattered on about nothing important for pages and pages.
Can you imagine people follow this?
But then I understand that people followed 'Seinfeld' on television too.
Oddly that bored me. I tried to watch it but just couldn't get into it.

I love the interaction here, even matthew's contributions. He however only makes momentary appearances on Radio Baldur.
He's probably still sore about all the splinters from his pole-dancing stint here early in Radio Baldur's run.

But feel free to come back and add to the merriment.
I do my best to keep this from taking itself too seriously.
I'm amazed at always at what can happen here.

And anon, I have hit 500 comments.
Thank you everyone for your contributions to this ignoble effort.
