Today I end my arctic challenge. I love every picture that was submitted and a decision proved very difficult. I was tempted to flip a coin, which is my preferred method for making difficult decisions, however I finally chose a4e4ka's picture of a minute line of huskies with a sled driver. I still can't figure out how she did that even after watching the playback a bunch of times. The most striking thing is she caught a very realistic feeling of how minute we are compared to untamed nature. Being beneath a wall of snow and ice is very humbling. I recommend the arctic to everyone. In the summer it is a land of wildroses and berries, constant sunlight and often pleasant temperature in the 70's, believe or not I met many 1st nation people who run air conditioners when it gets in the 70's. |
