That melted my heart, Kathy. You are so loving and caring, and I'm sure its for your son!

Yes, it was. This next one is for our Snickers. I have another poem if I can find it.

A NEW ANGEL IN HEAVEN

We’re crying tears, she’s gone away.
Although not very far.

Our baby’s gone to heaven,
She’s already earned her wings.

She brought us joy and happiness.
What more could she bring.

She knew when to come to us
And when to stay away.

I know we’re going to miss her
Every minute, of every day.

She touched our hearts in such a way
That no one could do again.

She’ll watch down on us
Every move we make.

She knew we loved her dearly.
The cute things that she did.

How we laughed when she thought
We didn’t know the trouble she’d gotten in.

She’d walk away looking innocent
The “who me?” look on her face.

Our Sweetest Little Snicker’s
No one can take your place!

I wrote this for my nephew who was really missing his mom, and so do I.
It's special to us.

A Phone Call from Heaven

Today I had a phone call, it came from heaven
It was Momma callin', "Are you behavin'"?
I miss you all, loved you to bits
You kids gave daddy and me all kinds of fits!
I know you miss us, especially me, I was softer than daddy –
Oh! what he didn't see!
You kids were thankful when you got it from me!!!!
You all know I loved you with all of my heart,
only time will keep us apart.
Know that I'm with you, wherever you are,
tucked in your heart, never too far.
Just give me a call when you're lonesome or blue,
I'll always be there to talk to you.
I'll hold your hand though you won't feel,
help you carry your burdens up that steep hill.
If the line is busy, remember this,
maybe I'm talkin' to your brother or sis!

Love,
Momma

The firefly's flame
Is something for which science has no name
I can think of nothing eerier
Than flying around with an unidentified glow on a
person's posteerier.

The Centipede
by Ogden Nash

I objurgate the centipede,
A bug we do not really need.
At sleepy-time he beats a path
Straight to the bedroom or the bath.
You always wallop where he’s not,
Or, if he is, he makes a spot.

The kiss of the sun for pardon
The song of the birds for mirth
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

Oh I love that Qsilv, it's so beautiful and appropriate for the spring.

I loved that poem... its imagery, rhythm, clever little rhymes... I could quote it way before I started school...

It was in the preface of my grandmother's ancient green gardening book, and I absolutely adored the book itself... fascinating charts... wonderful ink and pencil drawings... I'm certain that book and one other on animal care (both were full of careful, delicate sketches with lots of character to the lines) set me on the path to my style of 'art'.

dunno if it qualifies as a poem, but tongue-twisters certainly occupied a similar place in MY mind as a kid questioning the whole world of words...

"She sells seashells by the seashore"

(There's a similar Swedish one but I'm afraid the umlauts and such will break the thread formatting in this forum...)

Seven Ages of Man
William Shakespeare
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players,
They have their exits and entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,

My Father would sing this song to me when I was a young.

Bye, baby Bunting,
Daddy’s gone a-hunting,
Gone to get a rabbit skin
To wrap the baby Bunting in.

Bye, baby Bunting,
Father's gone a-hunting,
Mother's gone a-milking,
Sister's gone a-silking,
Brother's gone to buy a skin
To wrap the baby Bunting in.
