matthew, my favorite part was the chapter on innuendo.
You thrust the issue right into the spotlight.

My kingdom for a bowl of ice cream.
Baldur does not have any dessert type food in the house today. Nothing at all. It's really too late to make something too.

And now time for a lesson about the Lakota culture. They have a "Warrior Society" which is for males only. I've always wondered what it's purpose is. Know they meet once a month, do community volunteering but the name has piqued my curiosity as, face it, Indian Warriors are not running around in the plains warring with settlers anymore.

So, what are the warriors doing these days? Here is what my friend Al sent to explain about the warrior society. Enjoy!

"Being a warrior isn't about taking lives. Being a warrior isn't about showing strength. Being a warrior is not about showing how much knowledge you have. Being a warrior is, learning how to cry. Learning how to cry because when a man learns how to cry, he's learning understanding. He's learning how to understand cause when a man cries then, compassion starts to grow. And being compassionate, loving and respecting everybody... (is what makes a man a warrior)." -Nathan Chasing Horse, Lakota Spiritual Leader

I might add that I can never remember when to use an apostrophe with its and it's. And, think the warrior advice applies to women too. I am still learning how to cry and my life is more than half-way over ... unless (giggle) I have my great Aunt Lizzie's genetic material and then I could live to 110. Yikes!

My girlfriend "made" me cry last year. I was just coming back from suicidal pain and fatigue and was just not up for our usual bickering so I cried.

She freaked out! We've known each other for years and she's never seen me cry, not even at the movies. I just DON'T!

That's not true. I cry ALL THE TIME! But not in public. By not in public I mean not in front of the dog.

We've talked and she's over it now but it really freaked her out.

"its" denotes possession, as in "compassion is its own reward." It's = the short form of "it is" (It's a pity that the English language is so difficult.)

matthew, no matter how many times I've memorized the rules for its and it's ... they don't stick. Have given up but thanks for trying to help. : )

Am glad Baldur cries ... it's good for you. Al says Tunkasila (God) gave us two prayers ... one is laughter, the other is tears and both will heal.

That seems so lovely and poetic ... and true.

And now, its it's time for bed. Sweet dreams to all.
