Baldur, thanks for letting your fans know about your recent trip. It sounds like it was a blast. And, $3000 for a pair of candlesticks? Whoa, even if they are exquisite arts and crafts beauties, Sheftali contends the price tag is a bit high. No wonder they just get visitors! You will be pleased to know that Sheftali thought of you as she perused the beads in one of her local crafts stores today. I chose some red glass beads, and a slew of small clear crystal beads. Sheftali has yet to decide what to do with these beads, but they were calling her name so she had to purchase them. Perhaps they'll go into a baldur-bowl until such time as creativity arises.

$3k for candelabras... Better be made from Javan Rhino scrotum for that price...

FYI: The Javan Rhino is one of the rhino species with fewer than 60 animals surviving in only two known locations (true)... It is believed that the near extinction is due to the increase in candelabra production (slight embellishment)...

matthew I can no longer watch any playbacks on this site. For the past two months or so it's also been impossible to even view drawings in the larger format (the exception being the simplest of drawings with very few pieces).
Baldur must content himself to viewing the thumbnails.
The drawings never finish loading, which is rather aggravating.
Baldur attributed this to subscribing to AOL. Robert is fond of it for some reason, though to me it is the cause of multiple problems.
I did try logging on through internet explorer.
The connection was still less than stellar.

Bears do not always prefer bears. Many bear admirers are not hirsute themselves so there is always a mixture there.
Baldur however was not attending the event sponsored by the ursine.
There is a group of senior gay men who happened to choose the same weekend for their gathering, Baldur & Robert were in town for that.

Your host should try to find an image of these candlesticks, they are classic pieces of arts & crafts design so there should be an image of a similar pair online. The are deceptive simple looking. In my eyes they resembled the seed pod, perhaps of a poppy on a tall narrow stem.
As with all A&C metalwork one must never polish them, the patina is key to the value

These are almost the same, but by the same person.
The ones that Baldur visits have a key difference. That bulbous shape at the top is suspended above the stem by 3 tapering bracts that branch out and the taper gently towards the bulb.
Looking at it from the same angle as the photograph you would be able to see through the space.

Woody is a Goldendoodle. He's a British type Golden/Poodle mix so he's stark white (when clean, which means he's most often off-grey;-).

I sometimes call him Chewie as he reminds me of Chewbacca. He's part dog part albino Wookiee.

A fabulous dog!

We used to breed Chipoodles back when it wasn't cool to mix. We charged less for our unpapered hybrids. Not too bright, huh?

Beautiful candle sticks in the image you offered, Baldur.

Baldur

Thank you.
I might add for scale that the ones I saw were about 18" tall, though they were made in several different sizes.

Baldur those are gorgeous! So simply elegant!

I'm so not into an era or style that I can only call my home decor eclectic but I'd find a place for those!

I used to have Victorian antique furniture and decor but got done of it. My mother has most of it now. Neither of us could bear to part with it but I don't see me having it in my home again. She's quite pleased with this arrangement.

... Well that is a bummer, because I vowed not to mention someone here anymore so I can't quite tell you what you would see if you played it...

That said, lets say there was someone on Think Draw that hated me named SmSlavel... Well the HE HATE ME pic says Sm HATE ME, then gets corrected to say HE HATE ME like you see in the pic...

Am I being too vague???

Tomorrow I start painting, and doing some minor repairs on an apartment in Woonsocket.
It had been rented for over 20 years and is sorely in need of a good clean paintjob. Baldur finally got to see it this afternoon. This project will certainly take at least a week but the landlord is not planning on renting it before at least December.

I anticipate it will take at least a day just to remove the hundreds of nails and screws from the walls, and to spackle the resulting holes. What a mess.

Baldur

No, Baldur totally understands.
So you dealt with that typo AND the little dog too.
One must handle these things del-i-cate-ly.

I'm glad you saw reason and removed the drawing, it was rather antagonizing even if it had not been your intention.

My writing has degenerated of late.
It was poorly done to use the word 'least' 3 times in one short message.

3693. 2 Nov 2009 17:56

matthew

That is the least of your problems...

3694. 2 Nov 2009 17:56

Baldur

My family has told me that my style is to antagonize people. There is indeed some truth to that pronouncement.
What is not given proper credit is that in my case my skills are used reactively.
My sisters would torment me until I struck back in some mentally cruel fashion. Then in due course Baldur would be the one punished.
It was still worth it.

I don't know about delicate... ***This sentence censored***... ***This sentence sensored too***... and thats how I feel about that... Need I say more...

Baldur

I remember a fierce debate about censorship some time back.
Where is Ron when we need him?

Matthew, what do u mean when saying:***This sentence censored***

3698. 2 Nov 2009 18:05

I would have to get out my sarcasm handbook to explain it to you alphabet... (and I am being lazy right now)... but if you have a copy, you will find my response to your question in chapter 182...

My relationship with the eldest sister has 'devolved' into a dance of wits.
I doubt we will ever like each other.
We have this marvelous little game where we do a public show of of little pleasantries, the type that involves the little peck on the cheek when meeting and at least outward shows of interest in each other's lives.
It frustrates my mother to no end, as she sees it for what it is.
She however does not see that we learned it from her.

Is this the first Greek Chorus to appear on Radio Baldur?
BRAVO!
