Baldur

Baldur rarely listens to the radio anymore, even in my truck which was the last holdout for listening to that programing in.
It has all gotten so terrible and repetitive.
Chez Baldur is in a bit of a hollow, surrounded by granite hills. Radio signals have a difficult time getting here. Listening at home is near impossible.
Once about a time, when living in my penthouse there was a marvelous station I would listen to. WPLM in metro-Boston.
They had a playlist that extended from the 1930s through the early 1960s but was completely devoid of Rock. They would play the Andrews Sisters, big bands, swing, early rat pack, Ella, it was truly wonderful.
Then they switched their format to adult contemporary. They lost Baldur, and probably many more listeners too.
Another difficulty at that time was a local Rock station that someone increased the power of it's signal.
If it's place on the dial was 96.9 FM (which it wasn't) they bombarded everything from 94 to 99FM. They drowned out everything in site. You could here them faintly on the telephone and even my speaker wires picked up their broadcast. If I were playing an album their programming would be heard coming quietly out of my speakers. It was quite freaky.
Baldur went to radio shack with the problem and they actually had a product to fix it. It was basically a powerful magnet that had a hole in the center. The instructions were that you needed to wrap the speakerwire around the magnet, passing in and out of the hole at least 10 times.
Oddly this did work.

Baldur, I liked your story of giving your coat to the homeless man. How spontaneously generous of you!

Today, at the grocery store, right at the exit as I was pulling out, was a man with a cardboard sign that said "Stranded". My son watched as he covered his face with the sign, and huffed on an aerosol can of that Dust-Off stuff for computers. It made me angry, to be honest. Sitting there begging for money to buy his next can of fluorocarbons (10pt., even if I may have spelled it wrong) right in front of my kid! I thought about calling the cops on him, but didn't know the non-emergency number, and they frown on 911 calls for this type of thing. So he probably stayed there several more hours and got enough money for maybe even a can of spray paint. Ugh.

Maybe he uses it to clear his sinuses

See, you ARE generous. I hadn't thought of that!

They could start marketing the stuff for that, in fact. "Dust-off...Clears the sinuses and clouds the brain!"

Anyway, bedtime awaits. Didn't get my bloody finger cookies made tonight, so will need to get at it early tomorrow! Goodnight all!

Now as a seasonal treat here is our musical selection for this evening.
Presenting Primrose's favourite mime 'D. Voidov-Larynx' with her version of the popular Dusty Springfield/Atlanta Rhythm Section classic:

'Spooky' by Middlebrooke & Shapiro

In the cool of the evening
When everything is gettin kind of groovy
I call you up and ask you if you
Would you like to go with me and see a movie
First you say no, you've got some plans for the night
And then you stop, and say, all right
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
You always keep me guessin
I never seem to know what you are thinkin
And if a fella looks at you
It's for sure your little eye will be a-winkin
I get confused, cause I don't know where I stand
And then you smile, and hold my hand
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky
If you decide someday to stop this little game that you are playin
I'm gonna tell you all what my heart's been a-dyin to be sayin
Just like a ghost, you've been a-hauntin my dreams
So I'll propose on Halloween
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky, spooky, oh whoa, all right
Spooky, oh yea yea
I said Spooky yea yea

Great song, Baldur. And good on you for giving the homeless fellow your coat. You are indeed a compassionate soul.

Baldur

Just so you all know, Baldur will be going away for the weekend. Robert and I are spending the weekend on Cape Cod with 120 of our dearest friends. There will be a grand dinner and a Halloween dance, continental breakfast and antique shopping.

As of now it is unclear if this will temporarily become Radio Basque'n'Robin or perhaps radio matthew (my poor ratings!) but Baldur will return Sunday afternoon.
In the meantime we will be broadcasting as usually through midmorning tomorrow.

Baldur, It could be Radio Basque 'n' Robin for part of Saturday, but I work my second job...you know, the one that pays my bills...on Sat., Sun., Mon, and sleep when I'm not working those days, so may need to defer to our guest hostess Marius! Or perhaps Sheftali??

Baldur needs a costume for Satyrday evening.
After searching through the Chez Baldur's wardrobes, armoires and annex costuming warehouse it has been decided that I will be a gay pyrate.
I found a very poofy sleeved shirt trimmed in buckets of black lace, similar poofy black trousers. In place of boots however I shall wear my black patent leather opera slippers with the black grosgrain bows, and of coarse shiny black socks (some hideous synthetic).
Baldur then raided the jewelry chest, found a big hoop earring and enough rings to make Liberace jealous.
As the crowning touch there is my wide black leather Santa Claus belt with the huge brass buckle.

This afternoon I need to string myself a couple necklaces from my store of beads. For a dress rehearsal this morning I wore some mardi gras beads, but that was just too tacky.

Thank you Robin, maybe this should be the first ever Hallowe'en Radio Tag-Team Challenge where the Hosts keep changing and vying for the best ratings?
